I know of two who cried out to God on their death beds. Atheism is just an excuse not to have high moral standards.

This is really the age of unbelief. The upheavals and wild changes of the 20th and 21st centuries leave many disaffected. St. Paul said "We walk by faith and not by sight.
Faith is belief. Most Atheists are not nihilists, they believe in Science or something concrete. This capacity makes possible a restructuring of the belief systiem along traditional religious lines. But a word of caution, not all belief systems are equivalent.

in my entire life even when i use to count myself as christian every time i have come close to death i never thought of god or any deity, only how do i continue my existence, how do i get out, what if this is it? but that's about it.

If you think a person can observe the wonders of our universe and truly deep down believe there to be no creator, then you're definitely delusional. Most atheists aren't really atheists deep down. They're just fooling themselves, but they're not fooling anyone else. :)

you keep deluding yourself, but until i see evidence of any gods existence i will continue to be an atheist.

Do you have reason to believe you have had identical experiences to his?

If you do not think your experiences are identical to his, it is more likely he is seeing things from his own perspective - the only perspective a person can have. Saying he is delusional in this instance is coming to conclusions without having the information necessary to come to that conclusion.

Well, the evidence is all around you. All of creation proves there's a creator. God is. It's just that I think God finds you. You don't find God. But, the least you can do is say hello to God once in awhile and say you're sorry for all the bad things you've done. It's never too late to make a change. :)

Everyone was a non-believer before they found faith in something (those who have faith)...Im not sure non-believer and atheist are actually the same thing but close? As for being in denial about believing I dont really think so...they might some day find they believe in God but I don't think they are "closet" believers, if they say they don't believe in God (or any god) then I take them at their word, they do not believe.

    I think, YES ~

Most do really believe in God,

but, claim otherwise, due to disappointments

such as 'unanswered prayers', etc. and are angry at Him...

You can't speak for the majority either. No idea why you're coming off this way. I'm basing my statement on the atheists I know. And the majority of the ones I know genuinely just aren't interested in religion. Plus, that whole 'angry at God' thing is so tired and stupid. Yes, some of the idiotic non-believers are the ones that lost faith in whatever religion they believed in due to some accident or whatever. However, usually, non-believers truly don't believe in religions.

I WASN'T SPEAKING FOR THE MAJORITY OF ANYBODY, SILLY BOY ~

NOW, WHO THE HELL ARE YOU TO GET ALL UP IN MY FACE FOR

VOICING MY THOUGHTS, AND SHARING MY VIEWPOINT ?!?

Y.O.U. are the one who replied, in your 'hautiness' to me,

AND if you re-read my comment, you'll SEE, clearly

that I started my statement with ' I THINK '...

You DON'T NEED to correct my thought,

now, simmer down, and grow up ~

    And, thanks for the giggle,

too, btw, I needed it !

Yea, I need to calm down, Ms Caps-lock. Look, your opinion was a little over the top. That's what I was saying. I wasn't saying you're stupid or anything. And I was perfectly calm in my words. I was not angry, nor did I insult you. However, I'd be more than happy to insult your use of the caps lock, you're nonsensical anagram of the word "you," as well as the non-paragraph format of your response, and finally, the use of "lol" in your final sentence. Either you are terrible with grammar, or some immature person, probably both. There, is that enough insult for you?

I think it depends on the atheist in question - I know and have known many. Some came back around to believing and some so far haven't. There are all sorts of reasons that people find themselves not believing in God - and I've found that it is often out of anger and lack of understanding. When I was nine I saw my grandmother die - after begging and pleading with God I could not understand why she died and blamed God. For a short time there I guess I would say now that I became an atheist. In my mind I reasoned that no way would a God allow someone as sweet and wonderful as my grandmother to die so painfully and so suddenly. As time went on my upbringing and learning about the true nature of God brought me back to being a believer. So - people change their beliefs and I think many harbor the belief in God just below their conscious level and when faced with their final breathing moments they listen to what they have known all along but refused to acknowledge.

Maybe some of them have doubts, but why does it matter?

Anyway, I'm Agnostic, so whether or not any god or gods do exist, I don't care, and it will not really matter to me.
