I think that lately, dating sites have become increasingly popular, for 18+ people (in most cases).
But I think that meeting people on the internet has it's dangers, and the negatives definitely outweigh the positives when it comes to internet socializing and then meeting up with these people outside of the safety of your desktop..

    ive met my wife of 11 yrs on a dating site so it cant be that bad .

    Just like anything else, you have to be careful who you meet and dont take any stupid chances. I was amazed at how many guys are on those sites that dont have a car or a job and expect the woman to pick them up and pay for the date, lol. I have 2 family members who have met wonderful spouses online. I have dated a lot from dating sites and have been with the same great guy for 3 years. Common sense always prevails:)

    I think they are just as valid a way to meet someone than any other method. Sure, there are losers online - there are losers everywhere. People are busy..it's easy to just go online and talk to someone rather than getting ready and going to a bar or something - drinking is overrated anymore anyway.

    They can be both creepy or a sucessful venture, it depends on BOTH people involved and whether they are honest on what they wrote and say.
    I met my wife that way and we both had been honest about things so when we met we knew we got what was posted.

    Beyond creepy..If I meet a guy who tells me he does -more so tells me to"check out his profile" I automatically think lesser of him. I equate them to the personal ad's of this millennium.Question whether the 1st conversation is ;"I'm lonely and desparate so glad you are too"

    Nope, dont have a problem with online dating chat sites.....gives people more opportunity to meet and greet others in public places... why not....? dating sites
