Wheelchair-bound, 34-year-old Angelo Mendoza was intoxicated on PCP in April 28, 2009 and viciously attacked his 4-year-old son with bites. Bakersfield police said Mendoza bit an eyeball out of his 4-year-old son's face and ate it. The boy had numerous bites to his hands and his eyes were swollen shut. Doctors said the boy's left eye and muscle were completely missing. His other eye was mutilated beyond repair. The boy told them, "My daddy ate my eyes out."

Mendoza was arrested on charges of torture, aggravated mayhem, and cruelty to a child. The toddler is now in the custody of Child Protective Services. Mendoza is due in court May 20. His bail is set at $1 million. But it doesn't end here, Mendoza claims that he is mentally ill when it was HIS CHOICE to do drugs. This sicko is trying to get away with it easily by saying that he is lunatic when he was on PCP. The guy was on drugs, this wasn't because he was a mental case. It was self induced.

But i do not agree that he didn't know what he was doing. People who are mentally ill are well aware of what they are doing but in their head they justify it. Regardless he should be treated fairly and by that I mean counseling for a LONG time and locked up for an even LONGER time.

How could a father do that to his own child!!! Obviously not in the right state of mind!!! I hope they give him a slow and painful death and that the child gets a nice family. My dad got soooooo mad when he heard about that story. Personally, I think that what Angelo said about him being mentally ill is an insult against the mentally ill. Only a total drug- and alcolor-induced and total IDIOT would do THAT!!!!

He knew what he was doing! That jerk. How could you do that? To a child? To YOUR child? Why?! That boy is SO adorable! What kind of life is this poor boy going to have knowing, "[His] daddy ate [his] eyes out?!?!" This 4-year old kid is going to have such a rough time. . . . Imagine the psychological damage that could cause him throughout his life! That's cruel and wrong. Dude was on PCP, which has the same effect as LSD (LSD is some crazy !sh and people do some crazy !sh off of it. Prime example or prime example of mentally illness), dude was hallucinating, and this is what took place while he was hallucinating. Speechless! Sorry for the 4 year old boy. If dude is mentally ill he doesn't need to take nothing because it will only make him worser than he already is. Take a blood test! This happen in my hometown. We call this guy "porkchop" because he killed a dog for eating his last porkchop. Now, I think, dude was mental ill. Nobody messes with this man because people are afraid of him of what he will do. Dude is crazy.

But as for his father... there should be a law out.. Whatever harm you do to a person.. the same need to be done on them... forget Jail, forget bond.... hell yes it was his fault and that would have to be one of the meanest thing to do. take away your 4 year old sons sight. how is he supposed to go the rest of his life not being able to see the world around him. all i know is that the father is an ass hole and i feel bad that the kid has to have to same name as him

This is utterly sick and despicable. Words cannot even describe my disgust. Mendoza is sick but not mentally, he is sick for the torture he inflicted on that child as a Father and as a living human being.
He is responsible for taking PCP, WTF was he thinking taking it in the first place, around a child and as a Father he should know better! Wheelchair-bound or not that is no excuse for the harm he caused that poor Boy. Where was the Mother during all this? And if he was mentally ill then why did social services leave the child with him (if the Mother is not in the picture anymore)? Stuff like this makes me so angry.
