Custom Instagram Watches: Awesome or Unnecessary?

Instagram quickly became one of the largest social networks in existence, and if their recent partnership with Facebook didn't give your filtered phone pics enough exposure, you might want to invest in the Instagram watch.

The aptly titled InstaWatches are fully customizable -- you select your favorite Instagram photo, scale it to the watch face, choose your band and wait for it to arrive in the mail (after paying $44 of course).

If InstaWatches become popular some of you will need to step up your Instagram game -- food pictures don't make good watch backgrounds, and close ups of your face on your accessories will make you seem more than a little self absorbed -- but what do you think? Are custom Instagram watches awesome or kinda unnecessary?

I need numbers on my watch and I'd rather not purchase a 44 dollar watch.

Also, the watches with myspace camera angles look cheap and tacky. If you're going to create a watch- choose a unique design or a photo that is actually attractive. Look at some of the shoddy photos in the 'gallery'.

Both. Obviously it's unnecessary, but lots of unnecessary things are awesome. This is one of them. I think it's cool to be able to design and customise your goods.

It's not necessarily an "instagram" watch. It's just one with a photo in it. Honestly, it could make a great gift like for graduation (and have a picture of kindergarten or something similar) or even a family photo for the dad that's always gone on business.

Although, the fact that they are face watches instead of just digital almost makes it worthwhile, considering I thought I was the last of a generation that learned how to tell time with an analog watch.

These would almost be cool if they could upload and crop a picture to the face on demand, but ordering a watch with a custom picture isn't all that cool.

It's expensive, and I surely wouldn't buy it, but why not? I think the idea itself is cool. It's just the price that's not.

Although they'll never make it into the history books as the world's brightest ideas, still, you
can't deny that the concept of wearing a favorite photo on your wrist is a good one. There
are still several people out there, myself included, who make it a part of their daily dressing
routine to strap on a wristwatch. I do hope that those watches are water resistant.

It seems like a pretty cool Idea. I personally love watches but don't use instagram, plus these watches seem pretty cheap, so I'll stick to my collection.

This is not a new way of getting your favorite pictures out there, I have been using a company that will put a photo on a watch, either stainless steel men and women's and they have silicone available as well, you have choice of having the 12 numbers on the face,or the 12,3,6,9 or 12,6, or just 12 or the lines no numbers, black or white can be used for the numbers. I had a few made of a child in our family that passed away at 7 months old, they were thrilled!

But it is kind of cool to have a customized watch face. If I wore watches, I might get one with my daughter's picture on it. But I haven't worn a watch in ages!

You have that right, my friend - this is the only new thing the digital watchface - I was expecting something I could change my watchface with, anytime. But just to order one with a photo of your own is not anything to me - I would rather have an elegantly designed good manufacturers face anytime - maybe I could send a very expensive other watch makers face on one of these - now that would be fun!! - I don't think they would like that though - drat it!

Some companies that create a cool product go overboard and think that everything that has to do with that product is cool and they begin making unnecessary products, which leads to lower buyers and going out of business. They should just stick to their original ideas instead of getting big heads and money signs as eyes.
