Couple Bases Their Wedding on 'Breaking Dawn': Romantic or Pathetic?

We'll admit it: We're suckers for "The Twilight Saga." But we definitely wouldn't go so far as to turn our wedding into a scene from "Breaking Dawn - Part 1." However, Abigail Kirk and her fiancé Andy Weeks did just that, according to TODAY.

twilight wedding

Abigail, 30, who has read the books about six times each and has watched all the movies, based the flowers, dress and music for her wedding on the film. And she and her fiancé even changed their last names to Cullen. Um, yeah. "One evening as we were planning the big day, he said, 'Let’s change it to Cullen,' and it sort of stuck," she says.

Abigail worked with her florist to design bouquets just like the ones in the movie. The Cullen crest was printed on the menu, the wedding soundtrack featured songs from the “Breaking Dawn” soundtrack and she wore designer Alfred Angelo’s replica of Bella's dress. So... did this crazy couple take fandom too far? Or is it all terribly romantic ... just like "Breaking Dawn"?

Alright, so I might have found the books okay, but I really wouldn't make my big day surrounding around some fictional world of vampires and werewolves....AND THEN THEY WENT AND CHANGED THEIR NAME TO CULLEN... WTF. WHY?!

Barf. It's their wedding, so of course they can do what they want. I wouldn't base my wedding on a theme from some movie. And I sure as hell wouldn't change my last name to that of some fictional character. Talk about obsessed!

It might be a bit more interesting if they based it on the Michael Douglas movie "Falling Down" instead... :)

Theme weddings are fairly common, but why base one on a couple that's all about control, pedophilia, and empty characters? Even an incest wedding, based on Luke and Leia from Star Wars, would be less offensive than this travesty of a wedding. Of course, if they think of love in the same manner as these books/movies, then they're marriage is going to fail miserably.

I'm personally am Anti-Twilight, but have a few perfectly sane friends that like it. My main reason for not liking it is simply that I found it to be poorly written. I have another friend who is also Anti-Twilight, but her reason is that she encountered more idiots and loons in the Twilight fandom than any other one.

Oh, we find it poorly written, too, but that doesn't stop us from liking the story. It sucks that with news stories like this one paints us in a bad light.

im not really into Twilight, but i dont see what the big deal is. I think this couple may have gone a little far with chanign their names bu i see no harm in wearing the same clothing, the style, etc. so long as they like it.

I would prefer a Taylor Swift - Kanye West themed wedding! When the preacher asks if there is "any just cause why these two should not be joined together in holy matrimony," a gentleman in the back shouts his objections and then tries to convince the congregation and the groom that Beyonce would make a better bride and a better wife!

...but also just a tad pathetic.

She's only read them six times??? That's a small amount for that level of devotion...

...but if she and her husband were happy with it, who are we to judge??
