I deal with too many Marines on a daily basis to have to deal with the military on a working basis as well.
USMC policy - Hurry up and wait.

I actually don't know. Never tried being in the miltary. Went to a miltary school. The cadre never called you curse words or insulted you. They said in the miltary the cadre do insult them. That is all I know that I couldn't handle. I could tough everything else up. I just on't tolerate people insulting me and yelling at me to 'motivate' me lol There are more effective ways. And I do know the difference on from being loud (sounding off) and yelling

There was a time when I wanted to join the Air Force, but now, no. I'm 66 and 60 lbs. overweight, with back and shoulder injuries, so no.

I want to go to OCS first, but yeah, I've wanted it since I was in 4th grade. My PFT score was 293/300 for the Marines (running lost me the seven points) and it's a proud choice to make.

Most definitely, I even WANTED to, however I'm not allowed to join the military due to having Epileptic Seizures which excludes me from doing A LOT of things (that sucks).

For one thing, I have a chronic illness that means I would not pass a physical nor be able to get through basic training. I am also not too fond of taking orders.

They wouldn't take me anyway. I have scoliosis. It wasn't bad enough to fix but they wouldn't take me because of my back.

I'm sort of a renegade at heart. I don't like the idea of someone telling me what to do and getting right up in my face and yelling at me. I don't know how my sister and brother-in-law do it. Much respect to them and others who can deal with that.

Never got along with Authority very well, and people telling Me all the time what to do,and when to do it,forget it! It takes a certain type of individual to make a career out of the Military, and i am not that type!

I know myself enought to know I would not do well taking orders blindly....from someone else taking their blindly from someone else....
Plus when you join the military you are giving up your ....self. They are within their laws to use you as they see fit...
ALL that being said I know more then a few people who have been saved by joining the military. They were lost in their lives with no hope for ...anything but drugs and poverty....they had no faith in themselves. Fast forward 2 years and they are working serving their country and going to school and drug booze free. I am proud to know them. I just knew as soon as my recruiter told me I would have a bright future with them ....but I had to loose 10-15lbs....I was 135-145lbs shaply, 5'5, and very pleased with my figure and the best shape of my young life...it clicked in my brain that I would have no choice but conform if I signed the papers...so I didn't. Never looked back:)

Although, my dad tells me that I'm too opinionated and too much of an individual to not be put in solitary. The physical part I would be able to accomplish, but he doubts I would be able to take orders well without inserting my opinion.

He's a vet; he knows me personally, so I value what he has to say.
