I was captain at our golf club and had to make loads of speeches and sometimes to about 200+ people and when i first made them i was nervous but it got easier each time and in the end i felt quite relaxed and made 3 at my daughter's weddings
A few years of playacting and a few years of Forensics, I have reduced my stage fright. I would be nervous, extremely in front of hundreds of people, but after a few seconds, I would be comfortable.
Yup, done it several times.. 1200 fellow academics at an international conference on 'The Rights of The Child'... and if you include the TV audience on two occasions.. a few more...
Talking in front of a group of people has never worried me. I used to have to speak in front a couple dozen or so colleagues every day for one week once every five weeks. I'm sure I've had to speak now and again in front of groups exceeding 100 people here or there.
For me the trick is being as prepared as I can. Though it was over technical material, I somehow became known for a certain level of humor. I suppose I've just never been afraid of making an ass of myself.
It's only natural for anyone to get a bit nervous when speaking in front of a large
crowd but I can do it if I am well knowledged on a topic and I prepare myself.
This is a prime example of where self confidence is an asset here.
Much of our success depends largely on our self confidence.
If we believe in ourselves we can do this and so much more than we can ever imagine.
Well, I used to be a kind of teacher... som I dont think is a problem for me.
But i discovery that a lot of people can't do it.
So If you want to speech to hundreds of people you need to work on in this
I'd get nervous, but it's something I could do. I don't really have a fear of public speaking; I just haven't had to give public speeches much, so the jitters would mainly come from the inexperience. Other than that, no, I wouldn't have a problem.
Yup. I took 2 Speech classes in High School so I have no fear of giving a speech at all. Actually, it's sounds fun hearing my voice being projected from a mic. xD
I do give speeches a lot, and you always have some nervousness no matter how many times you are addressing a crowd. Even though one may have mastered speech giving.
But we are all just people and no one is better than anyone else and that sure helps knowing it.
A speech? Depends. But I have given technical presentations to hundreds of people on numerous occasions. I used to have some nervous jitters, but don't really anymore.

There is no effin' way in hell. Public speaking is my biggest fear, I will do ANYTHING to get out of it.

I'll write the speech and let someone read it. :-D
