Cost saving: no federal govt and each state has it's own foreign policy. Could it work?

Many states are larger than many countries. Do you think it would be better if each state had it's own path, then we could do away with a federal government altogether>
Wouldn't this save a buttload of money?

why? Switzerland, Belgium, Holland and many others are tiny countries, yet they have their own foreign policies.reply
