I had A job that offered free lunch to those of us that worked in the field,it was always some sort of unhealthy crap like burgers or pizza and then in our newsletter they would give advice on healthy eating habits.I guess when they were footing the bill, cheap was better than nutritious.

Where I work now i'm not too fond of the daily menu. There have been some places that were pretty good. I've only had one job where the menu was great. There were choices of beef, chicken or fish all prepared daily and differently. Nothing deep fried. A plethora of salad choices with all the fixings plus juices instead of only sodas. I've relocated since but I really enjoyed their selection. And the cafeteria had slamming views to eat by.

I hate catered food in general... I like to be able to order my specific meal my way, not eat whatever they happen to bring.

Sounds like this company really goes above and beyond, and the fruit deliveries are great. The only thing I missed about working in the VA hospital, was the meals. The cafeteria served really good food and employees got a discount.

I dont know if it counts as a "company meal"...but I was in the service and got put on bed rest retriction d/t a blinding migraine...company meal was a pitiful turkey sandwich on white bread with no mayo or anything...I was almost happy to be too sick to eat

Not if I am forced to eat with my co-workers. I am very focused about work, and have very little interest in fraternizing with my associates. So I'd rather meet my friends for a social lunch or eat alone... Plus I am in amazing shape (and that didn't happen by accident) so I typically watch what I eat and those spreads are both tempting and unhealthy to say the least.

Sure do ! It's great when we can all get together and just chill but it's usually on people's birthdays. If they want to pay for my food, who am I to decline? lol !

When I was an employee I would have preferred a raise, bonus or paid time off instead of a meal.

I doubt that, considering its not just a sandwich but also fresh fruit and a (more than likely) catered breakfast spread once a week. It could add up to a small raise per person.

Also consider every minute the employee isnt working your losing money, then throw in prep and cleanup.

Wow, what company is this? This would be a dream job! Sometimes around the Christmas rush, our boss would bring in some food, and we loved it.

Even though it saves money, I like choosing my own meals. Once in awhile I do enjoy what they offer just to mix it up a bit.

I worked for a billionaire once and he treated all his employees to free meals, 3 times a day but he expected everyone to do his bidding, which means you were expected to put in long hours and be on call even on weekends. Looking back, there was no free lunch.

Never had free food at work, I worked for the government, if we had anything it was a potluck, no lunches on the taxpayers money which was fine with me.
