Stressed out during finals? Not a problem -- if you go to school at Dalhousie University in Canada, that is. During its finals week, the college is becoming paw-friendly, which means it's opening up a "puppy room" on campus and allowing stressed-out students to take five during studying and go play with a pup!

Pets are proven to lower blood pressure and stress, so we think it's a pretty brilliant idea and one that other campuses -- we're looking at you, America -- should consider. Do you think a puppy room on campus is a smart idea? Does playing with puppies really relieve that much stress?

University students are well versed in coming up with ways to cope with the stress of college life. But some students at a college in Canada have started a new trend that is family-friendly, opening a puppy room for students during finals week.

I love being able to just love on my dog when I'm stressed out. She's always there for me, just cuddling up to my side on the couch when I need to relax.

So, I'd say that yes, dogs help relieve stress.

More so than cats. I'd rather kick a cat than have one as a pet. I don't mind visiting friends with cats.. but I prefer dogs.

High schools, hospitals, and elderly care homes should offer this service. Anywhere people are stressed or need some happiness, the cure could easily be puppies or kittens.

We have a couple of Pugs that we take into a rest home on a regular basis. We walk them up and down the hallway and they have to sniff and snort in each room. Their treated like rock-stars as soon as we come through the doors. They get stroked from almost every patient followed with huge smiles with old teeth. We had to promise the old lady in room ##38 that we would bring the pugs to her room every time they come. One old man insists that they are his dog named Daisy and I am Jeff. It doesn't that much to bring a lot of joy into people's lives and a small dog is a good way to do it. <{-_-}>

There's one college in my state where some of of the faculty occasionally bring their dogs to work and students can play with them. It also helps students who are missing their pets back at home.

Everyone I've ever met says college was the most stressful time of their lives. Also, at my college, we have an entire veterans counseling department. Just because a person is in college doesn't mean they haven't dealt with real issues. The oldest student t my school is a grandfather (71 and a veteran) and the school's daycare is completely full. College students are not just angst ridden kids who's lives are perfect. Students are parents, veterans, senior citizens, ex-cons, returning professionals, and all sorts of other things.....Hell, my father has been a reporter with a front page column for his entire career and returned to college a few years ago. I'm sure he would have benefited from a puppy or two.

I decided not to come on this site anymore because I get so upset. All these people you've listed are people milking our system and destroying our country. People like Fluke milking our system as her career. he's not trying to get a career, she's a career student. My ex is 43 and still in school. Next week she gets her thousands and pays off her new truck. I'm an ex con and know how they milk the system. Get free money for school and government checks for SSI because they're heroine junkies who have to take Methadone. My brother who I love milks the system and thinks they should give more to education. Easy to say when you don't pay a dime in taxes. I told him to take a hundred dollars down on Friday and I'll pay a little more. I pay $900 a month in taxes. Most of the people you listed above don't pay a dime. I don't feel like paying for puppies.

Dude, what the hell are you talking about?? This question is about PUPPIES and you're stuck people getting free money? YOU wouldn't be paying for a damn thing. You clearly have some issues with yourself and the people you associate with that are bleeding through onto this site. Just because you and people you know take advantage doesn't mean everyone else does. Honestly, I can't think of anywhere else any of what you just said came from, it's like you made up an entire argument that has nothing to do with anything for no reason.

Dude, did I say that? Sorry that you're offended by facts. It makes me sick to know for a fact 1000's are sucking us dry. Never said everyone, just that Education needs to be cut. Let them have less spending money so they'll give it to those that really need it. Don't even know why you through the military in there.

I don't associate with people like that, I didn't say everybody ever. Yes someone's paying for the puppy room. Not only the room but the cost of feeding it. You figure the food, shots, licenses. let's just say to feed all the puppies in the school are about $100 dollars a week which is nothing in your mind, but $5,200 in mine. Then if only a thousand schools did it, they'd only be sucking the tax payers dry for a small little $5,200,000.00. Creating future stress for the generations to come who have to pay for this debt the puppies create.
