As far as we're concerned, coffee is one of those gifts from the gods, something that tastes good, helps us wake up in the morning and even has health benefits.
Now, a new study from a professor of epidemiology and nutrition at Harvard School of Public Health found that women who drank two to three cups of caffeinated coffee a day were 15 percent less likely to develop depression over the 10-year study period, compared with women who consumed one cup or less per day, Time magazine reports.
Women who drank four or more cups of coffee a day had a 20 percent lower risk, but don't go crazy: At high doses, caffeine can increase anxiety, which can lead to depression.
Earlier studies have found that people who drink caffeinated coffee have lower rates of suicide than those who don't, and lower rates of severe depression. Other studies have found that caffeine may lower the risk of Parkinson's disease, curb the risk of diabetes and lower the risk for colon, mouth, throat, esophageal and endometrial cancers.
Which is why we really don't feel guilty about starting our day with a cup (and a half) of Joe. Do you have coffee when you wake up in the morning?

I usually don't drink it at night. Not after 7pm; or I'll be up way too late.
I'm not exactly hyper, but I have noticied I'm getting more stuff done at home after work... LOL!
Does it help with depression? i don't know but it has put a pep in my step... : )
Oh, btw, a friend introduced me to this new coffee creamer, and think I'm hooked! I find myself using it in things other than coffee.. I can't help myself....
That said, I need a cup of coffee... ; )
