Last month, we told you that Cindy Crawford's daughter Kaia, who's 10 years old, was making her modeling debut -- for Versace's new children's line, no less. But now, the '90s supermodel says she doesn't want her daughter to start modeling... yet.

"At this point, she’s too young to pursue a career," Crawford tells The Daily. "There aren’t even a handful of jobs for a 10-year-old girl. But if she’s 17 and wants to try it…of course, what can I say? She’s really into singing and acting. She kind of jokingly said -- I’m not even sure if it was jokingly -- 'I might model first because you don’t have to know how to do anything, but then I want to be a baby nurse.'"
And despite the fact she, well, already modeled, Crawford says Kaia doesn’t have a portfolio or an agent ... and mom was on set during the Versace shoot. "It was sweet," she tells The Daily. "She knew I was there looking out for her. She’s done little modeling things with me, but it was always with me, and this was just her. And I really wanted her to have that experience. "

Donatella Versace raved about Kaia in a press release. "Like her mother, Kaia has a very special gift. The camera really, really loves her." Do you think mom should cut the apron strings and let Kaia start modeling right now? After all, Marc Jacobs is allowing it.

Hal Michalchuk 2012/02/17 19:15:29Agree!+17Children these days need to have childhoods. I guess shes one of the few celeb moms to realize "Toddlers an Tiaras" is wrong. Granted her kid is 10, she IS too young. Good job Cindy!

- Spinmetillifall 2012/02/18 17:39:06Agree!+1I think it's sweet of her mom to finally realize to let the girl have a childhood. And hey she admits her daughter has a gift but that now is not the time. Hopefully Cindy will keep her promise.reply
- Barbara 2012/02/18 17:37:36Agree!+2If she is modeling age-appropriate clothing and it doesn't take away from her childhood, that's fine. Otherwise, she is too young. We have to stop making children look sexy and treat them as they should be so that we can have some healthy adults possibly.reply
- Riobhca 2012/02/18 17:28:50Agree!+1Good for her for caring enough about her child to protect her from the wolves and pedophiles that hang around the child modeling industry. Children need to be allowed to be children, not have their innocence stolen by creeps that care nothing about them except for using them to make money.reply
- Andy 2012/02/18 17:04:59Agree!+1Parents need to protect young kidsreply
- Watermusicranger 2012/02/18 17:02:13Agree!+1Her Kid.......Let her do what she thinks is right. Cindy should know better then most.
reply - Feisty Sin 2012/02/18 16:47:28Agree!+2She should wait till she older and enjoy her childhood while she still has it.reply
- Fashionable60s 2012/02/18 16:47:07Agree!+1Kaia has only a small window to be a child but a whole life time to be a working adult. Good thing, some sense had entered into her mother's headreply

- D D 2012/02/18 15:34:36Agree!Cindy knows the business and her daughter. I think at 14-15 would be ok with great supervision. I think it is a heck of alot better than those child pageants!reply
- AmeriDebby 2012/02/18 15:31:07Agree!+1Cindy cares more about her child being a child than the fame. That's fabulous. She can model or do whatever when she's older.reply
- Racefish 2012/02/18 14:45:28Agree!+2OMG. Talk about making her look like an adult. If anything, put her in "age appropriate" styles. Then when she is 18, watch out.reply
- Lady Whitewolf 2012/02/18 13:23:08Agree!SO agree! A 10-year old needs to be in school!reply

- Vanessa 2012/02/18 10:43:22Agree!+2She's a great mother if she says something like that. I'm sick of women advertising their children. Seen it with Toddlers & Tiaras, Justin Bieber and thousands more... Sick moms ruining their children's lives.reply

I know he did, right? But who knows what went on behind the home's doors? How did that kid get so over-confident in the first place? Green Card's pretty much desired ;) And mommy sounds a lot more excited in the interview. But what do I know? ;)reply - susan BN-0 2012/02/18 10:22:21Agree!She was a model, she knows what It's like and she knows her daughter better than any of us,so It's her choice If she lets her daughter be a model, not mine.reply
- Tara-ABO-2012 2012/02/18 10:00:18Agree!+2There should have been a *other* option. While I think that there is nothing wrong with kids modeling, who else is going to model a children's line of clothing for catalogs and such? The ultimate decision of what children do the modeling are the parents and if she thinks her daughter is too young, then that is her right and should be respected. But the same also applies for the Mom who thinks it's fine for her 10 year old daughter to model a children's line of clothingreply
- Lucid 2012/02/18 08:16:32Agree!her mum should know, right?reply

- Max7 2012/02/18 07:01:05Agree!+1This woman is not only beautiful outwardly, but she has a sense of beauty on the inside and a great love for her children. I agree with her and find it refreshing that a celebrity has her childrens best interest at heart.reply
- Peace Out 2012/02/18 06:26:36Agree!+1Let the girl have a childhood! Kaia has some great interests (baby nurse, singing, acting, etc.) but she is only ten. My ideas for my life have changed so much since I was ten. There are those who know what they want to do with their life and stick too it, and there are the rest of us who have to look around for awhile.reply

- Bibliophilic 2012/02/18 05:03:01Agree!+1Good. Why is a 10 year-old in a leather jacket and a mini skirt? Why is a child dressed like a woman- ridiculous! Let her enjoy her childhood. Young girls should not be overly concerned with their bodies, because it can cause low self esteem later in life.reply
- Greenbay 2012/02/18 05:01:14Agree!+2Ten years old is to young to be starving oneselfreply

- Lilymoon 2012/02/18 04:08:56Agree!+2Cindy would certainly know what modeling entails. She let her do it once to see what it was like, now her daughter can go back to being a kid and decide later on if she wants to model.reply
