Cindy Crawford Says Her 10-Year-Old Daughter Kaia Is Too Young to Model: Agree or Disagree?

Last month, we told you that Cindy Crawford's daughter Kaia, who's 10 years old, was making her modeling debut -- for Versace's new children's line, no less. But now, the '90s supermodel says she doesn't want her daughter to start modeling... yet.

"At this point, she’s too young to pursue a career," Crawford tells The Daily. "There aren’t even a handful of jobs for a 10-year-old girl. But if she’s 17 and wants to try it…of course, what can I say? She’s really into singing and acting. She kind of jokingly said -- I’m not even sure if it was jokingly -- 'I might model first because you don’t have to know how to do anything, but then I want to be a baby nurse.'"

And despite the fact she, well, already modeled, Crawford says Kaia doesn’t have a portfolio or an agent ... and mom was on set during the Versace shoot. "It was sweet," she tells The Daily. "She knew I was there looking out for her. She’s done little modeling things with me, but it was always with me, and this was just her. And I really wanted her to have that experience.
"

Donatella Versace raved about Kaia in a press release. "Like her mother, Kaia has a very special gift. The camera really, really loves her." Do you think mom should cut the apron strings and let Kaia start modeling right now? After all, Marc Jacobs is allowing it.

Children these days need to have childhoods. I guess shes one of the few celeb moms to realize "Toddlers an Tiaras" is wrong. Granted her kid is 10, she IS too young. Good job Cindy!

Cindy Crawford has been a model for many years and knows the business. If she says her daughter is too young, I'll trust her opinion. And 10 is bit young.

I can see it now...all these twelve and thirteen year olds looking like they are in their 20s. Their skin washed out and ravaged by makeup. Their baby soft hair stripped and straggled by all that primping and preening. Personally, I agree and would not allow it, not high fashion where kids are glamed up so, but maybe some fresh face photos think... Walmart or K Mart. Walmart kid model

I anyone knows the demands of modeling Cindy Crawford would. And usually by the time they are 14 they dress them as adults for modeling and that's just wrong. It reminds me of toddlers and tieras--OMg they are freaky and their moms are freakier. So modeling is a big job and responsibility for the parent, let her choose what she wants when she's old enough.

So, I am curious should childrens clothing be modeled by adults? I believe children can be used appropriately, Yes I believe the image above is NOT appropriate.

What ever happened to Brook Shields & her Calvins?

Smart momma! The girl obviously has talent, but it would probably be best to let her just be a kid for a while before exposing her the that type of career.

Why in the world would Cindy Crawford do this to her child. I also think that there should be a law that says no modeling til you are 18!!

I disagree, there are already too many laws on the books and not enough common sense. It is already necessary for any agency to obtain written parental consent prior to allowing a child to model, or be photographed professionally!

Wow, props to Cindy for not choosing to pimp out/exploit her daughter for money! When you hear things like Beyonce and Jay-Z already putting placing a copyright on their newborn daughter's name (Blue Ivy I think?) so that they can sell merchandise under said name, she's like a breath of fresh air amongst celebrities. Go Cindy!

When Cindy, her mother, says "no" that's the end of the story. The girl's 10. She doesn't get to decide yet, Mom does. Especially in this instance, since Mom knows this profession inside out. And, may I say, was very, very good at it :)
