Taking it a step further..... satan (according to the bible in Isaiah was trying to "be like god" to elevate himself to gods heights (same with the people in the "the tower of babel story in the bible, in some type of way) trying to be like or ascend to in a sense (paraphrasing of course, youll have to read the story for yourself).... but not to "mock" or make fun of.... Isnt it great that the god of the bible has CHANGED the way things are done? I mean really, no one is fooled.... IF it was god who knocked down the tower of babel for specific reasons, and people now can freely fly and go into space..... something HAS changed! (one of my old friends calls stuff like this the "but" clause, where someone will say, "but, but, but......."space shuttle takeoff specific reasons people freely fly space changed friends calls clause star wars tie fighter

It's those who speak for him and the book they use as "proof" that is being mocked. I do it frequently.

im trying to find if Mocked in the translation is the same as "imitating" or trying to be like. Some bible scholars say that satan was cast out of heaven because he was "trying to be like god" or "imitating" or elevating himself.... while others say that mock, means making fun of. In the old testament and new testament........the languages are different of course. So, im curious. I only spent a year at bible college, and half a year doing satellite courses.

Yuppers - another verse taken out of context, by some people who - "SHOULD" - but "DONT" - know any better!

Yes - it is true, we are NOT to mock God. But if we leave that tiny lil bit of the verse hanging/dangling all by itself - like some people do; then the whole concept of the verse is lost. The whole verse, in its entirety SHOULD be read as follows; "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap."

Now - doesn't that sound much, much better than just - "God can't be mocked"?

    I thought so!

mocking meaning, to imitate, or do you think it means to make fun of? Galatians 5:20 in the King james version refers to emulations?!?! does it mean not to copy? if it does, i think its ridiculous. galatians 5 20

so........in the bible book........ was Satan trying to, "imitate" be like, or copy, or........ was he "mocking" meaning: making fun of god and got the boot? satan making fun of Jesus

that particular verse is talking about what you sow you shall reap.... saying that according to the bible, that what you sow you shall also reap..... why do people always take that bible scripture in a Mean sense of the word? If you do good to others and are nice to others, you will most likely also be treated well, and nicely. Personally, i dont even think of god as doom and gloom, because i try to treat people well, even if i disagree with their ideas, beliefs, etc. etc. And i dont always agree with everything people say or do, but....it is a courtesy. courtesy

    Psalm 14:1-3

    King James Version (KJV)
1The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

2The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.

3They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

God the Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible (were you able to get to him) as your own, as does His Son, Jesus Christ, who showed His disciples His body after His resurrection. God is a spirit, Yes, but so are we spirits. And we pray spirit to spirit with God, that is why Jesus said God is spirit and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit.

And I thought imitation was the sincerest form of flattery.

I am of the considered opinion that you cannot mock a non-existent entity; however one CAN mock the institution and followers of such a person, for example...
    ffffffffff gggggggg ddddddd etcetc

Basically means you can do your own thing which is vouchsafed by God aka; freedom to choose.

If you want to understand God read Job in The Bible. Or Read about the Tower Of Babel.
God cannot be mocked! It is an impossibility, one may think they can ~ but it is only finite perspective.

This is the land of Second Chance aka; entropy ` we must deal with Nature And God while we are here.

First your born, then you die, have a nice day!! :O)

    But choose wisely!

There are many times when people mock GOD, and they are poorer for it. Hey, all you mockers, I'm glad that I don't have to pay for it. GOD always has the last word.

It is not like you think, when it comes to the bible it is talking about being an imitator, or trying to be like god in a sense. isaiah 14:12-17.... Isaiah teaches it was the reason why satan was cast down. So.... its true, the original was not written in English, so there may be a translation problem as the English language has many more specifics than most languages????

I give you a rave, because u r at least partially correct. But what I giet out of - "God cannot be mocked" - especially in relation to the rest of the verse is; If we act like Godly people - then God gives us His love/mercies evermore. However - if we say we are - "Godly", and act like a fool - then we shouldn't expect anything from God, except maybe condemnation.

Probably not just grape juice, is my guess, anyway???!!! wine JOHN 2:10 holy bible. and, "we are not drunk as you suppose" being it was only the 3rd hour of the day.......ACTS 2:15.
