China's new animal rights law will fine and imprison those that abuse or kill dogs or other various animals. China's history of animal abuse is extensive and this law, expected to be instated by 2011, is the first step to making changes. With China finally cracking down on animal abuse, do you think the U.S. takes animal cruelty too lightly?

I think there are a lot of problems with America- one of them being is they have no identity. The states are confuses with their politics and which path to follow. Why some states believe that zoophilia is not cruel to animals- then wonder why an animal may attack them even after years of being kept as a pet! The problem is explaining to people in the first place not to particaipate in animal cruelty however when the Govt are busy up their ass to be concerned about animals- what can one hope for?

In China ...yes they need to realize the treatment and respect that animals deserve. I don't believe that animals should be killed for fashion. I certainly don't agree to animals being skinned alive for all the above

Animals should have the same rights as humans. America IS taking this too lightly. They need to do more. People who harm animals should be dead.

i think the US does a pretty good job dealing with animal abuse. I mean, of course there's still more things we could do to change, but we're on the right track. I mean, we've got laws against harming animals and in CA we even passed a proposition to give the animals that we inject wit steriods and slaughter every year for food a better and happier life while they're alive. There's still a LOT more we can do, but we're on the right track...

This week, 450 dogs were rescued from the horrific conditions of a dogfighting operation during seizures in seven states. Animal welfare groups call this the largest simultaneous raid of dogfighting operations in U.S. history. Animal welfare advocates worked with federal authorities for 18 months on this seizure. So far, 26 people have been accused of cruelties ranging from denying animals medical treatment to shooting poorly-performing dogs in the head and either throwing their bodies into a river or burning them in a barrel.

Each rescued dog will be evaluated in hopes of placing as many as possible in adoptive homes.

is rampant. I cannot see how we have much to say about other countries concerning animal cruelty, when we fail miserably to clean up our own. And things look as though we are working our collective way down a road of "change" which will bring us more human cruelty than we have seen in this country in centuries, if ever, barring, possibly, the racism that ran rampant duing the nineteenth century.

you wouldnt treat a child that way, so why so then why would you do it to an animal an animal? Animals also can carry mental scars like humans do, not just physical scars.

...is a matter of one's definition of "abuse," as it is in other cultures. There are those who say factory farming, hunting, wearing fur, horse racing, dog racing, or even owning animals are forms of "animal abuse." I don't count myself in that category, but I mention it only because we need to define "animal abuse" in order to determine how well the US is handling it.

Considering China is JUST stepping up to the plate, I think its a bit premature to toss rotten fruit at American efforts just yet. Here we have to observe personal property rights when investigating animal health - that is something that Chinese officicals won't have to worry about, a plus for the communists, I suppose.

I think the animal cops do good jobs catching animal abusers, but the punishment should be more sever to the owners or who ever deals the abuse

they are way over feeding that dog in the pic, (just kidding) america does i guess as best they can with this issue, I remember when the casino opened in ct. women would go to the casino and leave thier child in the car and sometimes they would die from the heat, or sometimes they would leave a dog in the car and it would die. you would go to jail for the dog but not the baby. so i guess the protective laws are in place.

Well it all really depends on the state, like the state I live in you can abuse reptiles, birds and fish. So the poor little chickens and geckos can be beaten and abused and my state wouldn't care. But some states do a really good job. But also the US is sending wild horses to Mexico to be killed, wasn't there an act called the Wild Free-Roaming Horse and Burro Act in 1971 that clearly states that abusing or killing wild horses was a offensive crime? But here they are sending them to Mexico to be killed just make themselves look good? Disgusting. They make me sick by breaking their own laws, makes me sad to call myself an American.

Hurting animals is usually one of the first signs of a serial killer. I think that if somebody hurts an animals we should do the exact same thing to them.

However a lot of what you buy could be made from China, such as if you have Nike trainers!
