Beginning at age 4, Amy was regularly forced to participate in oral and anal sex with her uncle while he videotaped. These horrendous videos became known as 'the Misty series' and still circulate the internet today. The sexual abuse came to an end in 1998 when Amy's uncle was arrested, but even with her uncle locked up, Amy suffered the backlash of his actions, as people continued to search for 'the Misty series' on the web.

Now Amy has begun to seek restitution for all of her suffering in the way of $3.4 million from all of the creeps who got pleasure from her pain. "Every day of my life, I live in constant fear that someone will see my pictures, recognize me and that I will be humiliated all over again," Amy remarked. Amy believes, and many agree, that those who download these images are participating in the rape. Others feel that only the person who physically commits the crime should be held accountable.

Is downloading child-porn the same as rape?

Interesting that a photograph of a child being raped by a penis is a crime, yet a photograph of a child being raped by bullets and bombs is A-Okay!

It's perfectly legal and normal to view photographs of children's arms blown off, bodies blown in half, and still publicly "support our troops" doing it. Yet everyone becomes Batman if the bomb is instead a penis.

As long as Your Media continues to convince you that sex crimes are worse than war crimes, your priorities will continue to be skewed.

This would probably be a war-crime article, but the writer/owner knows they'll extract more ad-revenue with this topic. Mmm Profits! Cheers.

Not to condone child porn, but I couldn't convict anyone of rape for watching it that's stretching things a bit, more an effort to extort money than an attempt to achieve justice. Do we convict any person who watches porn of rape because some actor might get saved or something at some point and be afraid of being recognized? How about watching porn involving anal sex, are we going to convict all who watch of sodomy? As much as we hate something, we always have to be careful we don't allow the issue to be pushed too far. A precedence is always taken advantage of, each time pushed to new levels. Then one day, we find someone with lung cancer is suing some actor for making a movie where he smoked, enticing the plantiff to begin smoking, which resulted in his cancer. Rediculous you say? Rediculous is the norm when it comes to law suits and big money is involved. Crimes must be punished, but we always have to be sure we don't surcumb to bleeding hearts and radicalization and maintain balance, using the legal system to simply lash out and punish anyone we don't agree with. What we're talking about here isn't an assault, not even a personal meeting, not even real damages, only "potential" damages due to embarassment, a far cry from rape. "Rape" is a serious crime in it's own right, clearly defined, it needs to remain that way, not be diluted with abstracts, for the protection of those who are actual victims of rape, and those who are falsely accused. The muddier the waters get, the more prone the legal system becomes to lock up innocent people, or allow the guilty to roam free.

I disagree that watching a rape on a video is the same as committing the rape in person- that's patently absurd. Downloading child porn isn't always done by pervs either. It often happens by accident. Pop-up windows that load tons of thumbnails can easily pass child porn into your computer without you even noticing it. Even video clips can be automatically cached by most browsers without the user's knowledge. Nobody should get in trouble for that. Private investigators often look for a missing child by search through child porn. If it's your child they're looking for, would you want them getting locked up just when they find a good lead? Do you want to make it any more difficult or impossible than it already is for them or the police to find missing children? If not then it should never be a crime to download anything.

It is not considered rape, but it should be considered highly illegal and punishable to some degree. It doesn't make it right, but a large percentage of people who engage in this were molested themselves as children, and the trauma from it manifests into an attraction by adulthood. People need to get some help and end the cycle--these kids don't deserve this

really sick and they need to be lkept away from children at all cost. Unfortunately, I think making those who down load an image guilty of Rape or even worse. A mother who did the "baby on a bear skin photo that are traditional Baby photos since the camera was invented. Some one said this pornography and had the mother arrested and yes it did tak 5 years to get the Ms. Out of the s,aller. The baby did not know her parents at 5 years of age.
Some one who would enjoy the pain and humiliation of the girl through this will be caught at something el;se and if our government is a gogd gobvernment will jail the culpret for life.

And they never get served any good food, just some old leftovers. The guards and cell mates make their lives living hells. They deserve it 100%

It may not be physical rape, but it's the raping of her peace of mind. It's the participation of the humiliation, degradation, and the ongoing vicious circle of letting these videos circulate that's raping her. I think the websites, and the pervs who download these horrific videos should be held accountable, and sued.

So now the new law is that you get prosecuted by the feelings police for rape, a felony, and are listed as a sexual predator for life if you "rape someone's peace of mind"— a crime that doesn't involve anything but sitting in your own house without talking to anybody except the guy who reads your water meter, and which the "victim" cannot tell if or when they are "raped".

Presumably the victim can be "raped" in this way years after the porn pix were taken—or after they've died of old age.

If you say the actual "rape" occurred when the porn pictures were taken, then it's possible to be convicted of (and brutally punished for) raping someone who died of old age before you were born.

And none of you dimwitted rednecks sees any problem with this. It seems logical to you for the same reason you think the moon landings were faked and that fake wrestling is real.

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

I am SO glad this police state is falling apart.

Maybe it best if you actually put yourself in the victim's shoes. Imagine when you were a child, a relative raped you numerous times, video taped the perverted torment, and then the footage leaked on the internet (viral, inescapable hell).
Now, if this were a willing consenting adult, I'd have no issues. But this was a child, and an unwilling participant, and in that matter, who is to say that perverts don't recognize her on the street? Who is to say she hasn't had creeps say anything to her, follow her, or stare at her, knowing that these guys know who she is? You can't.

There needs to be repercussions for perverts downloading/watching sexually explicit, and illegal degradation of children.

I love how you call me a dimwitted redneck, without knowing anything about me. But you know what 'they' say, people hate in others, what they hate in themselves. So that's good you know you're white trash. Get off your high horse, you aren't that bright.

It's not the same as rape, but people who download videos of a maniac having sex with his 4-year-old niece are just as crazy as the guy who made the videos. This is downright disgusting and trying to get videos of child rape will do nothing to end it.
