CHICAGO (CBS) — The culture clash over Chick-Fil-A could come to a head on Wednesday, with supporters in Chicago and around the country turning out for an “appreciation day” first proposed by former Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee.

Nationwide as of Wednesday morning, about 582,000 people planned to go to a Chick-Fil-A location and order something for Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day.

Even if I patronized fast-food meat restaurants, I wouldn't be showing my 'appreciation' for Chick-fil-A. Not because the owner opposes gay marriage, but because he strongly supports groups that attack other businesses that openly show support for the societal acceptance of gays.

So, what's the problem. The owner has done NOTHING but to voice his opinion. Must be afraid of other's and their freedom to have a different opinion. He has also done nothing buy hire thousands and that includes gays. If that's hurting someone, we need more just like him.

Freedom of speech is different than working to prevent gay marriage by making gays out to look like criminals... I support freedom of speech 100%, not someone who wants to prevent my future possible marriage. If someone were working to tell you that you couldn't marry the person you loved, you'd probably feel the exact same way!

Maybe, I can't exactly go there myself and I just had it Monday - maybe my mom will pick it up on her way home, I don't know. My Dad did mention he's never actually had Chick-fil-a before (he doesn't care much for chicken) so if he's willing to try it then maybe.

But I'm almost always up for some Chick-fil-a, they have some delicious chicken (and cheesecake). Although I suspect this entire thing is just Chick-fil-a attempting to get more business, which I can't fault them for, but I also don't really care because I love their chicken. Even if this all just is a ploy to get business, I don't care, because I love chicken. And cheesecake.

No, I realize that they don't discriminate in their business. Their actions as in donating millions of dollars to organizations that are solely working towards preventing gay marriage. While I would love to, even though I get my chicken from Chicken Express, I have brought left overs from home....I still stand behind business owners to have personal opinions and the right to state them. (I actually think they have the right to refuse service to anyone, but that thinking is old fashioned these days)
