Chick-Fil-A Fast
Food Chain Donated Nearly $2 Million To Family Values Groups
. Want a side order
of solid Christian American values with your chicken sandwich? Chik-Fil-A might
be able to help you with that. According to
EqualityMatters.org, the fast food company donated nearly $2 million in 2009 to
groups that have laudible family values. IRS 990 forms
show that WinShape, the restaurant chain's charitable foundation which was
founded by Chick-Fil-A's chairman S. Truett Cathy in 1994, gave to the
following groups in 2009:

Marriage &
Family Legacy Fund: $994,199

Fellowship Of
Christian Athletes: $480,000

National
Christian Foundation: $240,000

Focus On The
Family: $12,500

Eagle Forum:
$5,000

Exodus
International: $1,000

Family Research
Council: $1,000

An earlier
investigation by Equality Matters found that Chick-Fil-A, which was recently
voted the third most beloved restaurant chain in the United States, donated
more than $1 million to family values groups between 2003 and 2008. The IRS
forms from 2009 are the most recent available as public records. In January
Chick-Fil-A president Dan Cathy defended the chain saying, "We're not
anti-anybody... Our mission is to create raving fans." Cathy also responded
to gay activists' claims after the company provided lunch at a
marriage-training event sponsored by Pennsylvania Family Institute. Cathy asserted,
"While my family and I believe in the Biblical definition of marriage, we
love and respect anyone who disagrees." In recent months
students attending at least six universities, including University of North
Texas, Mississippi State University, and the University of New Orleans, have
launched petitions asking their schools not to support family value businesses
like Chick-Fil-A. LGBT activists
have also staged protests at a number of the chain's locations throughout the
country, including Chicago and Hollywood.

I for one applaud the stance of this franchise on supporting
family values, that which has aided in making this country great. What do you
think?

Yes they do, and it's all a matter of public record. ZeldaFan is right on the money with the FACTS regarding the very groups you have listed in your initial post.

No, they don't. Attempting to define them as a hate group is not relegated to those that wish to define them according to simply having an opposite stance. No one in any of the groups they have given money to have shown hate.

Also founded by and run by Mormons.

Mormons continually care for they're fellow human beings and always contribute to the general good and welfare no matter the level of hard-earned income.

Muslims? Ah, not so much ..............

Mormons only take care of their own and then only as long as they are in the church. Muslims are at least as charitable, maybe more in this country.

Every ChikFilA donates food to causes. They donate to scout troops, swim teams, soccer teams and churches. They have donated to schools both public and private. They have donated to all kinds of civic groups. They donate food, time and services to food banks. They donate all the time. And seldom do they ask the underlying platform of the group. But the store owners budget for every months donations.

I've had their waffle fries, and those were pretty good. And some of their chicken is decent. Good, even, considering I'm living up north and 'fantastic' chicken hasn't really made its way up here. lol.

But I won't support them, if I can help it. Because they're fighting for everything against what I believe in.

We have popeyes. I like it. But it's not nearly as good as it is down south (I don't know why, it just isn't). And yes, I need to visit NOLA, it's just going to take some time and money.

"grins" awww northerners just don't have the "soul" to cook good soul food. There's just something about southern, creole, and cajun cooks. If I could afford it, I would bring some Nawlin's Popeyes to Dragoncon and give it to you. Well there is a good place in Gulfport..but "heh" I honestly don't think it would last!!!! April and I would probably scarf it down. We would have to buy a box just for you and keep it in an icechest or something. Hmmm I should discuss this with April...

:-P I do. I just would lose it if I cooked for more than a few people. no worries on the food, though. While it's not nawlin's, it's still southern - there are plenty of places in GA to grab some fried goodness. ;-) Thank you, though! :-)
