Chick-Fil-A Fast Food Chain Donated Nearly $2 Million To Family Values Groups. Will You Support Their Love Of American Values?
Chick-Fil-A Fast
Food Chain Donated Nearly $2 Million To Family Values Groups. Want a side order
of solid Christian American values with your chicken sandwich? Chik-Fil-A might
be able to help you with that. According to
EqualityMatters.org, the fast food company donated nearly $2 million in 2009 to
groups that have laudible family values. IRS 990 forms
show that WinShape, the restaurant chain's charitable foundation which was
founded by Chick-Fil-A's chairman S. Truett Cathy in 1994, gave to the
following groups in 2009:
Marriage &
Family Legacy Fund: $994,199
Fellowship Of
Christian Athletes: $480,000
National
Christian Foundation: $240,000
Focus On The
Family: $12,500
Eagle Forum:
$5,000
Exodus
International: $1,000
Family Research
Council: $1,000
An earlier
investigation by Equality Matters found that Chick-Fil-A, which was recently
voted the third most beloved restaurant chain in the United States, donated
more than $1 million to family values groups between 2003 and 2008. The IRS
forms from 2009 are the most recent available as public records. In January
Chick-Fil-A president Dan Cathy defended the chain saying, "We're not
anti-anybody... Our mission is to create raving fans." Cathy also responded
to gay activists' claims after the company provided lunch at a
marriage-training event sponsored by Pennsylvania Family Institute. Cathy asserted,
"While my family and I believe in the Biblical definition of marriage, we
love and respect anyone who disagrees." In recent months
students attending at least six universities, including University of North
Texas, Mississippi State University, and the University of New Orleans, have
launched petitions asking their schools not to support family value businesses
like Chick-Fil-A. LGBT activists
have also staged protests at a number of the chain's locations throughout the
country, including Chicago and Hollywood.
I for one applaud the stance of this franchise on supporting
family values, that which has aided in making this country great. What do you
think?

Marie/M2M2K™-#1Conservative... 2012/06/21 08:11:58Yes...I stand with Chick-Fil-A+12Always! Not only is the food good, but I respect the owner and his religious beliefs and practices in addition to any donations the corp. has made.

The fact that some atheists are allowed to speak out about their lack of faith now that religion in the western world has been tamed does not mean they have formed or are forming a religion. You are painting all nonbelievers as exactly the same.
If you responded to my question, I am too dense to have recognized it as such. If you would be so kind as to restate it. I would be appreciative.
You should accept Jesus and get some of that hate out of your heart. Thou shalt not murder. Do unto others and all that?
It is not actually as difficult as the NFL, yet it is odd to find how many Christians do not know what is in the Bible. It is also strange to hear Christians talk of killing people who speak against Christianity. Is your faith so easily shattered that a man deserves to die for the offense of being a dick?
THAT is why atheists and agnostics have begun to surface and argue against religious control of society. That is why laws based on religious morality are twisted and oppressive to those of other beliefs. YOU are the reason people fear Christians.
I know the Bible pretty well, and it is not that he simply spoke out against Christianity, but that he spoke of it viciously, to hypocritically BULLY some young kids, as though to finally be cool in high school. The Bible makes it clear what people who cause this type of damage deserve, so bite me with your little teaspoon of what you think you know about the Bible.
What are the laws based on religious morality? I hear this all the time, but you guys suck at life and have made Christianity your bogeyman for failing to assuage your insecurities regarding your fear of death. Why are you trying to blame me now for why people "fear Christians", whatever that means? I've heard of going to extremes, but you have taken the cake with that inane comment. I take pride that I stand up against the bully who is so much worse than your average bully, because he ACTIVELY PREACHES against bullying. If he were a Christian, you'd be calling him a hypocrite, and now you are not, so I guess that makes YOU a hypocrite too. It's people like you that make it hard to take atheists and agnostics at face value. Many, if not most of you have anger and control issues. You claim to be principled, but you are not. You are just as blinded by your own beliefs as the people you criticize, just adding to the evidence that you are no different from other religions.
Peace!
The one that I go to is run by a member of my church and they often have evenings set aside for church groups and such. I would love to see more businesses put their faith in front like they do.
Those that dislike them can go suck one.....they probably do anyway.
Our local Chick-Fil-A donates cups and such to local churches all the time as well as catering for fund raisers, etc. They're one of the more highly thought of businesses in the area.
George Soros got away with it for far too long now!
What's the matter LWNJs? Can't stand free-market competition?
