Just out of interest, what are the rates of unemployment in these places?

In Europe, the cheapest places to live tend to be the places where nobody has any money...

I might have driven trough one of them on a trip to Yellowstone, but I was pretty young then. I'm going to go with no here.

Not surprising, almost all of those are in the south, Memphis is kind of surprising, though.
Haven't been to the south (much), about the only part of the country I've never lived in / been through. WA, ME, PA, IA, ID, AK, I've lived in, and I'm sure I'm leaving one or two out. Been through or vacationed in too many others to count ;)

I've been to Memphis. Fayetteville, I've been to the one in North Carolina! lol. But i wouldn't guess that Memphis was cheap to live in.

Seven of the ten are in states with Republican Governors.
Four of the ten have no State income tax.
Two of the ten are considering repeal of the State income tax.
    See any trends here?

Temple, Texas is a nice town with lots of seniors. I really like it and it is about 30 minutes away from my home.

Memphis is where I was born and grew up but I would recommend not going there. The crime rate is ridiculous

It's also a very sad place. They used to be one of the steel capitals of the world, I believe, but have never figured out what to do next.

Memphis I have been to. It's rather cheap around where I live too, the only thing is it'll be a bit tough to find a job because it is a small 1sq. mile town with a population of 5,503. So job opportunities are limited so you have to drive out of town if you are adamant enough. But as far as I know, most houses I've seen in the general area runs from less than 90,000 to 300,000+. I have to look around more to refresh my memory.
