    Theory? What theory?

Is the practice good? I don't know. That is a personal choice isn't it?

It is the only foolproof way NOT to get pregnant or an STD... It allows you to use energy that would be directed toward the acquisition of sex for other purposes. It is the biblically correct way for an unmarried person to live. Those are facts.

I know people who want to practice it. Theory doesn't fit it, it's a choice we make. We choose to be sexualy or not. It works for some, and it doesn't for others. Personally, I think we should practice it more, too many kids jump into it and the are not ready for it.

Theory? I'm not sure what theory you're talking about. Do I believe celibacy/abstinence is realistic for most people? No. Do I believe it works for some? Yes. Do I believe in abstinence-only education? Absolutely NOT.

It used to be generally accepted practice for young people before the era of freedom to experiment with sex at all ages.

I believe it works for some. I do think a person shouldn't have sex with just anyone, I believe in saving it for love...

Celibacy/abstinence is not a theory it is a fact. I have been abstinate for seven years and it is by my choice. Do I miss the sex? Yes I do. Do I need the sex? No I do not. Do I have more self respect? Yes I do. Do I worry about STD's? No I do not. There was a time when I thought I had no control over my needs or my wants well I out grew that thought. If I am to be damned if I do and damned if I don't I choose I don't. I won't settle. I have twice. I won't again.

Those catholic priests are enough, to see it doesn't work.
Molesting children is a crime, that can be prevented by decent marriage.

Sure. Not everyone thrives on or even cares about sex. It's just a choice. Sometimes it's just what is natural.

Which theory. Celibacy is how a person decides to behave, not a theory. Honestly, you should go eat some of this stuff:

How can anyone with a straight face say "It does not work"?
    (Abstaining from sex)
(to keep you from getting pregnant.)
(well, I guess the person could be a sociopath)
If you are not having sex, you are NOT getting pregnant.
Maybe now the person in question can finish school and work for support.

    Sheesh!!!

Does that mean that if you don't have a craving for sex, you're unnatural? What if it is just your innate lack of interest? It is only natural, for those that crave sex. It's not natural for those that don't. People shouldn't be made to feel like freaks or like there is something wrong with them, just because they don't have a craving for sex.

    VERYwiseguy
If you're young and healthy yes it is unnatural to not have sexual desire. And if you're older it also applies in most cases. Many things can cause lack of desire physically or mentally.Plus if you never enjoyed sex you may lack desire.ie: Most woman that may feel that way usually it's a mental issue. If say I myself never achieved a climax why would I want to bother? ;)

I find it very sad that so many people believe that the only reason that someone might not have a desire for sex is because there is something wrong with the person. I am sure that there are some that are uninterested, due to physical or psychological issues; but the same is true of people with high sex drives. It can be a result of a hormone issue, sex addiction, mania, etc. Just because someone else is different from you, it doesn't mean that it is unnatural or that it is because they have some kind of problem. I could be that they are just, by the same natural causes of your own sexual desires, not that interested.

They are different than most people, not just me.You are saying what I am,if you have physical or psychological issues because of lack of interest or too much interest.Which is different than most people feel naturally. And not what nature intended.(natural) Very few are born asexual and never have sexual desire. That's something that as was said above can be caused later on by physical, psychological emotional or mental issues even from medications for other ailments not even sexually related. In other words. One might have had a desire until they began taking certain meds.Heck drink too much alcohol,or take many other drugs legal or illegal and sex desire is gone. ;) It's not the norm to not desire sex,if it was the human race would cease to exist.Just like being homosexual their desire is natural for them just as people with no desire. But it isn't the majority of humans that feel this way.Again if it were goodbye to the human race eventually.

Yeah, instead of answering this, I think, we're just going to have to agree to disagree. I find your arguments, not only wrong but offensive. You will never see them that way, and I will never agree with.... this that you said.
  • VERYwis... cocktai... 5 days ago
    VERYwiseguy
Your choice to be offended if you think it's natural to lack sex drive. No it's not the norm but that doesn't mean I think there's something 'wrong' with them. They're,just different than most humans. :)

Theory? What theory? It's a practice, the practice of not having sex. Like the practice of vegetarianism there are many things you can include or not include and still call it celibacy or abstinence depending on how you define sex. There are a ton of ways for people to be sexual with each other, some of which offer practically no chance of disease or pregnancy transmision if those are your reasons to avoid sex. If you're fertile and heterosexual and want to be absolutely certain you don't become or cause pregnancy then you might abstain from all penis-vagina sex but there's no reason to give up any other forms of sex. If you're trying to keep from passing or getting sexually transmitted diseases you can still have oral, manual or even genital sexual contact with other people as long as you use protective barriers. If you think that an orgasm is a terrible thing that just makes you want more of them and you want to supress your sex drive altogether then abstinence is a a beginning toward that end but ultimately even genital and gonadal amputation won't completely get rid of sex drive. It just makes it literally impossible to satisfy it. In any event there is nothing to "believe in" here.

If you make some research you will find that celibacy doesn't mean abstinence, it means that you can only have sex with your wife.
No I don't believe in any of those things.
