A gay student in Iowa says his Catholic high school is refusing to allow a foundation that promotes gay rights activism to present his $40,000 college scholarship during an upcoming ceremony.

Uh................his college is giving him a scholarship.......and........he doesn't want the college to present it....he wants a random third party to present it? That doesn't make sense.

The Catholic Schools are shooting themsleves in the foot everytime they degrade the value of one of their students in this way. In my opinion that is child abuse as bad if not worse than the sexual abuse of children by priests. This abuse can be stopped.

Oh for crying out loud! It is a CATHOLIC school! Of course they are not going to support something that promotes something that goes against their beliefs.

I am all for gay rights, but I am also for the rights of other people too. And religions should not be forced to support what goes against their beliefs anymore than religions should force people to live by their beliefs.

We ALL need to learn to accept that people have beliefs different from ours. We ALL need to be tolerant of others beliefs.

If people want the religious people to stop telling them what they can or cannot do. They must also be wiling to stop trying to tell religious people what they can or cannot do.

I am so sick of these fracking catholics pretending to be bearers of G-d's truth ... OTOH, if he can, the student ought to just take the scholarship and not make a big deal about having it announced at his fracking high school ... or - and this is the more passive-aggressive approach - when the kid gets up to receive his diploma, he could just say "and i want to thank so and so for giving me this awesome scholarship because i'm gay" or something like that ... i was raised Catholic, but more and more i am seeing why some people consider that church to be the antichrist or the whore of babylon ...
