Talk is cheap. Men and women say "I love you" to their spouses everyday, and then head out to "work" and boink someone else. Yes, Pets say I LOVE YOU, in THE best way possible...by showing it.

Even when my dog was 17 1/2, blind, deaf, slept most of his days and had not seen me for awhile, the moment I entered the room, he would know as his sense of smell was still intact. He would get up, wagged his tail, gave me his special smile, dragged his arthritic body to greet me. I would pick him up and put him on my lap then he proceeded to lick my face and hand. How could you not know that this little dog was telling me his love. Unfortunately, six months later he weakened considerably and we had to let him go peacefully. I still miss my Chicken McNugget to this day.

not in words maybe, but my dog wags his tail and jumps on me to lick my face. my cat rubs against my legs and sometimes licks me. and i used to have a bunny that would respond to her name and snuggle with me.

My kitties can't speak English, but one cat goes "Mrrrow!" loudly, rubs up against my leg and licks it to show affection-the other one "butts" me with the head and "kneads" me with her paws.

She hasn't said anything since he died last September except, "Daddy! Daddy! Daddy, come here!!" When I talk to her she usually turns her back on me. It's OK. We all grieve in our own way. She'll get over it or she won't. I have discussed this in bird forums and that seems to be the consensus.
