Its happened to me a lot. When people first met me, I'm silent and try to observe as much as possible. Then later I'll become more hyperactive and excited.
They get so disappointed that I don't shut up all the time.

yeah, i'm usually pretty good at picking up on the coldness from the others and the awkward feeling i get, i usually try to slink away or avoid the scene

When I do, I do not change anything, I simply stay or go were I wish to.

I can get in someones face if they feel uncomfortable with me, but when they are reasonable, I let them have there peace.
