Newt? That man is so extreme, but now he's running we'll see him tone down his rhetoric. It will be fun to watch. Mr. "hand out the divorce papers at his ex-wife's bedside while diddling another woman" family values kinda guy.
I wonder what he'll really do. He hasn't said he's running for president only he is "exploring the idea." He'd be smart not to run, he'll only be embarrassed.
I dunno squares: don't forget that Gingrich is smart. He knows the playing field is open right now.
Romney has Romneycare/Obamacare, Huckabee is a dingbat, Palin is a farce, Pawlenty is like watching paint dry. Other than the very overconfident fat-boy, Gingrich is the only smart one on the playing field. If he can "center" himself and get away with it, he has a real chance. Don't underestimate him. Only Christie can threaten him. The rest aren't even in the running.
Although Romney, if he's honest (and that's the only way he can win it) will stick up for Romneycare, say Obama is not wrong to do the same thing, but seduce voters with his mental agility and corporate prowess. I think Americans want honesty. If I was Romney I would say I believe in Romneycare, and Obama is not wrong on healthcare reform, but wrong on other things. The stupid electorate just might buy it.
I don't see it. Do you remember the banking scandal where Newt wrote 22 rubber checks of the government money. He has a lot of skeletons: http://www.realchange.org/gin... Romney is too much of a light weight. I really think the republicans are hoping for 2016 knowing they can't win in 2012.
I have to say my instincts are the same as yours. I have a feeling in my bones, like you, that the republicans have already written off 2012 and are going for 2016.
