Can You Judge a Person By Their Shoes?

You!

You're not supposed to judge a book by its cover, but shoes are apparently a whole different story. Recent reports show that shoes reveal a lot about the wearer's personality. If you're agressive, ankle boots are your thing. If you're a more agreeable person, practical shoes are your pick. And the list goes on and on. Do you think you can judge a person by what kind of shoes they're wearing?

BLOOMBERG.COM reports:
If you have been reading newspapers or websites, listening to the radio or watching TV over the past few weeks, you have probably heard the news: “You CAN judge a person by his shoes.” Beginning in mid-June, word of a psychology article titled “Shoes as a source of first impressions” began circling the globe.

Oh, and it also depends on my mood. Some days I might wear a T-shirt, shorts, and flip flops to school. Then the next I might feel more like dressing up and wear heels. I don't think you can judge a person's personality based on what they're wearing on a certain day because you might only see them that one day. We can't possibly know what the person is like until we get to know them better. For example, if someone decided I was a laidback and casual person based on a day that I was wearing flip-flops, they'd be wrong because if anyone gets to know me, they know I am actually extremely anal about things.

I don't think personalities are ever static. They change from one moment to the next. T-shirt and flip flops meant that you felt more easy going than usual. Heel's and a dress meant that you were looking for attention and feeling self confident. People change from moment to moment. Ones wardrobe, in this case their shoes, will reflect that.

If a Girl wears high heels does not mean she is attention seeking Maybe some do I wear revealing clothing for someone I like to Get his attention ONLY but I also like to wear revealing clothing Because I love my body and very in touch with it and I flaunt it I love the way I look I wear things I wear because I am attached to objects I get attached to clothing shoes hats bracelets I love my Evil eye bracelet and my Rosary I NEVER usually leave the house without it unless I forget it to out it one I also am in love with my floral shorts because When I wear them I feel tough hard I feel strong carefree I always wear flats highs sandals boots Never one for sneakers I do think what you wear can show your personality BUT to judge a person completely by ONLY clothing shoes and what not is stupid

At first I was going to say no, but then I looked at the shoes I wear and the shoes my mother, my brother and my father wear. Mine are weathered leather Uggs held together with safety pins and a pair of ratty faded leopard print flats that still look pretty decent. And in a way that's me, simple, laid back and I think it shows how I don't really put that much thought into what other people think.

My mother's are sleek, elegant, but still comfortable, like her, and very practical, my brother's simple, generic, slightly faded and my father's just display macho and comfort.

Obviously you can't tell everything by a shoe, but you could take an estimated guess at how they want to be perceived.

Sometimes. If they wear sneakers all the time, they could be classified as tomboy-ish maybe or like sporty and comfortable; if they wear heels or other super fashionably shoes they could be fashionable or maybe girly.... You shouldn't though, because it's wrong to judge and you could piss someone off.

    But only very few things.
For example, you can normally judge their (approximate) shoe size.

What if the person's really poor and can't afford shoes? Or they're a hippy? Can you judge them by an article of clothing? They could be really nice people.

Also, (I know I'm being a hypocrite by saying this) there's a guy I really hate that used to wear Converse shoes, so I'm a little judgmental around the people that wear those.

So no, I'm limited to what type of shoes I can wear because I've been dancing all my life, so can't wear the pretty shoes anymore because my toes won't bend like that anymore. I am the same person I was when I was able to wear pretty shoes, but just can't anymore. Not that I don't want to, I do!

Too some extent I'm sure the shoes people wear reveal a bit of their personality but not enough to complete judge or figure them out.

Not necessarily by the type of shoes or the brand, but whether or not the shoes are polished or scuffed.

I think if you depend on brand names and come from a "popularity" mindset, it doesn't work. Spending money does not equal class! Walmart pumps can be classier than $800 stripper heels. You'd have to be paying attention to how they take care of their shoes, what type of shoes they are wearing (sandals vs. boots vs. sneakers), and otherwise how they carry themselves. Yes, I'd guess that someone wearing old beat up dirty sneakers probably doesn't put a lot of care into the details of their life. I'd guess that someone wearing stripper heels is immature in their world view and doesn't feel confident selling themselves solely on their talents and skills. It's interesting that ankle boots are tied to aggressive personalities - the one time I bought ankle boots, it was for a new job that I really wanted to succeed in.

When combined with the rest of their clothes and appearance, their demeanor, the way they talk, the way they carry themselves, etc... But the shoes by themselves are just one small piece of the puzzle.

    Well.. in some instances!

If she is wearing STRIPPER SHOES.. then she is more then likely a stripper or a prostitute, or just a slut with no style sense!

    Hippy shoes... maybe a hippy...

5toe shoes... likes to run - or get attention by wearing weird shoes!

Women in clubs look at mens shoes as a means to project social or financial status... coupled with the watch & jewelery, and style, material and maker of his clothing - - but it starts with the shoes.
