    I’ve owned a few.
It isn’t a sports car unless it has a stick!
Few cars are more fun to drive than an old Muscle Car from the 60’s or an old VW Bug! How’s that for a selection?

Yes, Thank God... And it's saved my sorry self several times, I might add... Been 65 mph, and white knuckle sideways, in the snow enough ta know that "Clutch" and "Neutral" were my best friend...

Next ta Jesus that is, which, by the way, is also the name I was hollerin' out at the time ~ jus'sayin'

Anytime I own or drive a smaller car - doesn't have to be a sports car - could be a Honda Civic - I prefer a stick shift. It's just more fun - using an automatic doesn't feel like driving. But a stick in an SUV or truck is just work and bother.

I've got two V-8 Mustangs with 5 speed manuals and they are a hoot to drive.

What is not a hoot is the insurance cost. :(

I love driving a manual. I feel like I have more control of the car. It also helps me from getting too tired while traveling.

My dad attempted teaching me for less than 5 minutes...he is an impatient jack ass so I never was able to learn...I need to have my right hand free when I drive anyway...I keep both hands on the steering wheel!

Me too. I bought an OLD (1979) car with a stick, before I even knew how to drive one. I think the same went for all of my siblings.

Of course. That's pretty much all there was when I learned to drive (in my dad's 1950 Pontiac). And to think that led to my driving 18-wheelers for a living, some with 15 speed transmissions, 13's, two stick, etc. When my kids got old enough to learn to drive, I made sure they all learned to drive a vehicle with a manual transmission, because then you can drive anything. None of them are truck drivers, but they could if they had to!

On a Sunday afternoon, the top down, the wind in the hair and the roar of the horsepower and the vibration of the torque; nothing is better. On Monday morning, in bumper to bumper traffic, fumes collecting in the cockpit, the clutch leg shaking from the cramps of holding in the clutch while inching along at 5.5 mph; nothing could be worse. Pick your poison.

no power steering, no power brakes, no cd player and a steering wheel the size of the rings around Saturn. But oh, how I miss those cars!

One of the first 'cars' that I drove was a 65' Ford pick-up. Talk about a stressful experience. I think my right bicep grew twice its size after all the hard shifting that I had to do.

Jenni, you must have been confused…I’m sure you meant to type in “fun” but you accidentally typed in “stressful”. It’s okay, we understand what you really meant. One little bit of advise…turn left while shifting…balances out the biceps. If you’re going up a hill, you also work your leg muscles!

LOL... thanks for the advice. But driving that old truck wasn't fun. - And I LOVE driving stick.

The most enjoyable way of driving; unless you are in L.A. traffic!
