For me, shopping involves a bicycle ride since I have no car. So yes, it is possible to combine a shopping trip with a healthy workout.

Wow, Americans have gotten so lazy that it considers "buying stuff and carrying them around" as a work out. I'm sure it's so hard how you have to check the price labels and take out your heavy wallet full of coins that weigh a ton. This sounds like an excuse for people who like to shop but don't exercise.

If walking can be considered a workout then walking while carrying bags is like walking with light weights or heavy if you buy a lot.

Anytime you're using muscles that you're not used to using and using them a lot and doing repetition, you're getting a workout. So if you carry a lot of boxes, do a lot of walking, and so on, yeah...you can get a workout from that.

A good workout to me is one that works up a good sweat and makes me out of breath. I have never experienced this while shopping.

hell yeah! my sister and I went out and were on our feet for 12 straight hours in addition to carrying our bags........my feet, arms and legs are killing me right now haha

When I lived back in MN, I was about a 15 minute drive from the Mall of America and my work week was Sun-Thur. So Fridays, when a majority of the locals were at work, I loved going there to shop. I rarely bought anything, but walking around for 5+ hours just window shopping or getting ideas for gifts was a great workout.

Shopping in itself(the act of rubbernecking for "things"? No. Possibly the walking you do WHILE shopping can, but you can walk and do a number of things, including working.

i mean you have to walk a lot and climb the stairs and when u see something nice and fancy, especially when it's on sale, you need to move faster than others so that it won't be "stolen" by other buyers. it's also a workout for your brains, i mean you have to think when bargain, and if you want a good deal, u have to convince the seller, that the price you offer is proper and fair. and it takes intelligence

Yes it can and if you want the lowest price you will ever get go to buy a vehicle the week before Christmas on the coldest, rainy and nasty day there is. The dealerships are empty and they will wheel and deal to make a sale. It is a really good time to tell them to roll the TT&L; into the deal or you won't buy.

You might need to walk blocks to find an ATM, your family/friends, your car, a store that isn't sold out, the right size/color etc. I would rather walk blocks on my own all year long & shop early or online. The whole deal would be better worked out & a better work out if you shopped locally & thoughtfully. Screw big boxes.
