in some respects since you still have to have things and you need to have money to go certain places that make you happy. you also need money to visit family that make you happy and everything. but money cant buy you the emotion itself though

    In this world, yes.
Explanation: Lets say your dream is to travel around the world, you need money to do so. Or maybe your dream is to write a book, you need money to publish it.
When people say money can't buy happiness, they don't mean you don't need money to be happy. Its just a metephore for material objects.

Like someone else mentioned: it can bring quick and light moments of happiness but true, deep, lasting happiness can not be bought. For true happiness there is nothing in the world you can buy that will give it to you.

It depends. I think money can buy happiness as long as you have your true friends ans supportive family behind you. Also, money canbring happiness to a homeless person.

It can buy moments of happiness.. But to have actual deep down happiness from money is a negative in my opinion! It can have an effect of leading to happiness if you, like myself, are insecure & do not trust anyone.. so $$ could get me that sense of happiness. A reliable tough newer toyota could give me happiness! lol

Yes it can. I know that I do not need a hundred millions dollars to live on. I told my dad that between 12.5 & 25 Million, I would be set. I do not live in a gold plated life.

But I always wonder why athletes get a 90 million dollar contract, and should be set for life.i would. But then they want double the next go around.and then they want another 100 million when they start breaking down. Go Figure.

Happiness is subjective - so yes, money can buy happiness for some people. For instance - if you love cars, and I mean, absolutely LOVE cars, then I'm sure being able to afford many expensive sports cars would make such a person happier.

Money gives you control over your life, which increases choices, hopefully leading to true happiness.

It can make financials a little less stressful. However , a great deal of money can make things MORE stressful. Even then , I'm willing to take on the extra stress though I may regret it. LOL

Well, just as easy as it is to say that money does not equal happiness, having zero money is likely to equal unhappiness. So you tell me? Which is it?
  • BobbyOdd MariahRene 2012/06/30 12:32:58

most poor people have happiness. if they can be satisfied with each other and have enough to eat. interesting to note that the poorest countries also have the lowest suicide rates. apparently the daily struggle to stay alive overcomes the feeling of boredom.

Well, I was looking at extremes. Which is why I said zero money. Zero money often means no food. And I suppose I was thinking happiness on a larger scale as well. Like total happiness. I mean, if you were to look at Maslow's hierarchy of needs, that food/physical survival aspect remains beneath everything.

It all depends on what makes you happy if traveling makes you happy then probably but if love makes you happy then money won't help you.
