Perhaps they can add a little convenience but in all likelihood, probably not: Those apps don't directly relate to the issue so I'd say they wouldn't be of any help if you just broke up and had no idea what you wanted to do from there. Perhaps more importantly, they don't offer any new avenues of reconciliation, they're just different ways of doing what was already possible: if you can get your mind off of it by going to bars or meeting a new girl, great but that doesn't necessitate the use of the suggested apps. Moreover, these solutions might not work for everybody, since entertaining yourself can be but a momentary distraction and even if you find a new partner, it's perfectly possible to pine for your lost love.

Depends on what it is, but there is no reason an app can't be written to help with it, whether it's coaching, advice, or social/dating networking.

Getting over someone takes time, and most importantly, self-realization...an app won't be able to help you with all that.

Yeah, but one of the apps in that article is simply an app that tells you the locations of "Happy Hour" in different places, and another is basically just a calorie counter, for getting in shape... I think the idea behind them is getting the person up, moving, and out. It's not like it's just some app designed to act as a therapist, or something similarly foolish.
