My significant other has been on the pill for about 3 months now. She is no in between packs when she has to take the brown pill. During this time she is supposed to menstruate, correct? however, she informed me today that she has not even spotted. If she doesnt have a regular period soon, i will start fearing the worst. Can you ladies give me some information here on wether this is cause for conern or not? she has been very stringent on her shcedule for administering her pills.

Some pills today are designed to delay a period for 2 or 3 months at a time....Personally. I think it is a bad idea for your body to not have some sort of period each month. If her Doctor never mentioned this as a side effect, or the info papers that come with the pills do not mention this possibility, it is wise to contact the Doctor just to be safe....it is more likely that if she has only been on the pill for 3 months, her body might be adjusting to the chemical changes....Further, I think it should be the mans responsibility to use birth control, and not the woman....a man's body is far less complicated that a woman's body and a woman's body should not be bombarded with all those chemicals on a monthly basis for several years.....Many more women get all types of cancer. cervical, ovarian, breast, lymph, brain, lung, than do men get, prostate, testicular, brain or lung, and does no one ever think that Birth Control pills, or IUD's or other unnatural methods just might be the cause....Last time I checked, Condoms were not the root cause for any of these diseases....One and One make two, always have, always will.....reply -

its been awhile since I took the pill, but if memory serves me correctly, its not unusual to not really have much of a period, have it shortened, or have it turn to just spotting----all that will vary from woman to woman. The pill works by tricking a woman's body into thinking that you're already pregnant (thats why so many women gain weight and get bigger boobs on it), which prevents ovulation, which typically prevents the bleeding--or lessons it. Its very rare to get pregnant while properly taking the pill, but remember that if she takes antibiotics, experiences any vomiting for any reason or has diarhea, you guys need to use back-up----all those things can temporarily render the pill useless. I dont think you have anything to worry about; it sounds normal to me.reply -
so even if there is no bleeding at all, it can still just be "a-okay"?reply - Jo Evan 2012/03/12 04:02:18
oh, yeah....like I said, some women's periods go down to just spotting, and some disappear altogether. I dont know how much you know about womens reproductive health, and I dont want to insult you if you already know this, but when she ovulates, it triggers the lining of the uterus to thicken. When the egg isnt fertilized, the lining (blood) sheds and leaves the body. Well, since the pill prevents ovulation, theres no reason for the lining of the uterus to thicken up (become bloody). I dont completely understand why periods dont disappear totally with ALL women, but then again, like I said, its been a long time since i was on the pill. Has she had no bleeding at all for the entire 3 months that she's been on it?reply -
yes, her last period ca,e early, with a dark brownish bleeding a week before her actual cycle.reply - Jo Evan 2012/03/12 12:16:35
that sounds normal; I really think she's fine, but if it would make you feel better, you guys can call your dr and ask them about it---I'm pretty sure all is ok, though:))reply -
