Can a 16 year old be in love?

I definantly think so.

Yes. The heart wants what the heart wants. Love is like WiFi and our heart and mind are the box. As long as theirs a phone connection,the love flows. But once you pull the plug, Itś all over. If you want it to work, don´t pull the plug.

But never expect to grow old with the person you are in love with. You'll meet a jillion new people when you get out of prison and into the real world.

Amen!! I think before anyone gets married they need to live on their own for 3 years, self supporting. That gives a person a little bit of reality and hopefully some ambition to make a marriage work.

I definitely agree that couples should live together before marriage! I dunno about on their own for 3 years, but I guess it depends on the person and their partner. I'm sure it'd be very beneficial, though (:

Those raging hormones make the brain and heart run in overdrive. It may not be lasting, or "the real thing", but to the 16 yo it's real. Even at my age I can remember.

Again, it is possible. Through my personal understanding of love, it is incredibly unlikely that you, or any single 16 year old is in love, though. Possible, not very likely.

There is no age limit to being in love. However, perhaps there should be a speed limit. . . slow down. You have the rest of your life ahead of you. :?)

Believe me love is a much stronger tether than a piece of paper ! What I mean is take things slowly and see whether or not you actually get on with each other before you get in too deep. See if you can be friends as well as lovers. The two things don't always automatically go together. . . .that's life for you. :?)

Give it a couple of years and you'll really get to know each other. I know that sounds like a life time at your age, but it takes a while before people really show their true colours. But I wish you all the best peaches. :?)

Of course, but having the maturity to handle it in adult manner is another thing. I had a first love at that age and it lasted for about four years, than we went our separate ways.

I tend to think of it more as "infatuation" or "puppy love"..... Frankly....speaking as one who was 16 many moons ago....when you're at that age...you are pretty much clueless.

I am well aware that every teenager....upon hitting puberty becomes the smartest person on the planet, has the answer for everything, and is never wrong. Parents and anyone who disagrees is stupid or doesn't know squat..... I was there about 48 years ago... funny thing is... so were my son and daughter, and everyone else I have ever known.

I'm 16 and I know that I'm not the smartest person and the world, and that adults are usually much wiser.
Obviously I don't have the answers to everything, but with time I can learn as much as I possibly can.

I was with the same boy from 13 until I was 22 Nobody could have told me I wasn't in love with him.If you feel so deeply it isn't puppy love. I will offer the same advice I did my own children regarding love.1ST ,If you are in love-that's a good thing that's about the best thing that can happen to anyone.Don't let anyone make small or light of it to you.2ND There are several kinds of love.One is selfish,mean,grasping,makes you lose control which uses love for self importance.This is the ugly crippling kind.The other is an outpouring of everything good in you-of kindness and consideration and respect.Not only the social respect of manners but the greater respect which is recognition of another person as unique and far too valuable to cast aside.The 1ST kind can make you small and sick and weak..but the 2ND will and should release in you strength and courage and goodness and even wisdom you didn't know you had.

High school relationships don't usually last though. My brother and his wife started dating when they were in like 7th or 8th grade though and they both are 27 and they have been married for 6 or 7 years. They have a daughter who will be a year old on September 23rd too.

I got married when I was 17 and am still married to the same wonderful man. Maybe wasn't the smartest choice only being 17, but I was in love and still am, 35 years later.

A 16-year-old is perfectly capable of romantic love, and in the past, many were getting married even. However, many modern teens fall in and out of "love" haphazardly because they haven't been given realistic examples of romantic relationships, nor the emotional tools to make a relationship work. But yes, it is definitely possible.

Having lived a long time and raised a daughter who had a mind of her own.... and even caused some of the gray hair i have....... I can talk from experience.

First off, they are too young. and You ask the average.... I said " AVERAGE" girl 16 years old and you ask her about her ambitions and goals for the future......

Most have not matured enough to make that kind of decision because that decision requires commitment and does not just involve one person (Her) but that other guy as well.......

Now that may not apply to all but i am talking about averages

Lol I'm not in a relationship with a guy, but the same things can apply. Everyone's experiences are indeed different though (: There are usually exceptions to every rule!
