California is not alone on this one. There are at least 14 countries that have some sort of foie gras ban, mostly targeting its production. However, the difference is that the ban in California not only prohibits foie gras production but also bars shops and restaurants from selling it.On July 1, California will be bound by the most sweeping anti-foie gras statute in the world. Consumed by few, the pricey delicacy made from duck or goose’s liver is lusted after by chefs and diners for its rich, singular flavor and versatility on the plate for everything from hot dogs to ice cream.

I'm opposed to animal cruelty. Force injecting corn meal into a duck to enlarge it's liver is just plain wrong.

I have never tried it. The only thing I knew about it is that it is duck or goose liver. What is the big deal and why is it being banned?.

It's made from engorged goose liver. They force feed a goose so that its liver grows oversized at a rapid pace. It's not good for the goose, obviously. It's comparable to liverwurst. Only it tastes a lot better.

It tastes very similar, only it's not nearly as strong. It's a lot more subtle.

How is that an answer to why this should be legal?
Your logic implies that we should also be free to murder humans... nowhere in your constitution does it say, or even imply, that something like this would be a protected freedom, since it doesn't impact on your life or liberty.
