That's the typical question asked by people who find Evolution hard to swallow, yet this Gorilla walks like a man.

Doesn't that suggest that Gorillas are capable of evolving?

    Man is a great ape
Evolution does not mean that the lesser evolved die off. Just mean that at some point a branch separated and changed over the many years.

How many times of deer can you name?
How many times of bears can you name?
The list can go on and on. All are within the same group, but evolution changed many of them to appear, act or do something different.

I'm assuming this is meant humorously, Apes and humans evolved from a common Hominid ancestor, we did not evolve from present day apes. Humans are the same genus as all primates we are just a different branch of the Hominid Species, Homo sapiens.

Alright, I know that this is not a valid point, but the scientific data does not prove evolution possible. If you disagree please reply. I would love to show the evidence.

I would accept that if other animals evolved and walked and talked..but its clear that a human is its very own design and or creature.

I believe humans originated from their own species. We may resemble apes to a very close extent but humans were always humans. They evolved separately from that of any other species. In simpler words, we humans are our own original species.

Well, if one part of a population moves a distance away from the patent population to a different environment then different traits well develope to help deal with the new climate. Since the ones who did not move do not need to change, they DON"T! But, some people like the theory of magic better I guess.

Man and apes both came from a common source perhaps. Maybe God made evolution, not "Adam and Eve." Maybe those who question evolution are not really questioning it so much as denouncing it without rational reason, and only because of their (arguably irrational) belief in an invisible supreme being who can't be seen nor proved. Evolution makes a lot of sense compared to that.

Maybe instead of defensively responding to religious "skeptics" of evolution, we should question their specious Theory of Creationism.

that idea isn't proposed in the theory of evolution. theory of evolution suggests that apes and humans are divergent species of one common ancestor, not that humans descended from apes.

The Apes that still exist are self governed! LOL! They were smart and wanted to preserve their species. They are known as outlaws to us that evolved from them and now they are our forced to live in captivity for life!! LOL! :).. These things people come up to :)

Wrong. Humans and apes are different branches of the same order (Primate) and family (Hominidae). Next on the taxonomy list is genus (Homo) and that is where we differ from apes.

Humans did not evolve from the apes that live today. Humans and apes share a common ancestor which diverged into two distinct lineages, one of which were the hominids and the other ultimately evolved into the great ape species. The evolution does not work like a ladder (one species turning into another, and then another), instead when a species evolves it branches, these two new species then keep branching, adapting to different environments and evolving even more in their own unique way.

the question is moot, we didn't come from apes. Apes and humans both came from an ancient ancestor.

the family tree theory is dead. They fed characteristics of thousands of species into a computer program and no it did not produce a linear tree of development. When the programmers tweaked it to generate tree-limb relationships, unrelated combinations (as far as conventional evolution theory is concerned) resulted.

We may look like apes, but our tissue and organ structure is more like pigs. Most poultry is white meat, ratites are red meat birds, and so on. There are similarities and exceptions across the animal world that defies linear development.

i would be inclined to say national geographic is a more reliable source (i adore national geographic) but this article is more recent, so i'm not sure which number to go with, lol. i think it's fair to say that 96%-98% of our dna is shared with chimps, no? XD
