Bride 'Raped by Husband on Wedding Night': Who's in the Wrong?

So
this has been brought to my attention browsing the internet.

"
A husband raped his new wife on their
wedding night after she told him she didn't want to have sex, a court heard.

The
woman, who is in her 20s, told Exeter Crown Court she was so drunk after she
returned home from the wedding reception that she told her husband she did not
want to have sex.

However,
her husband ignored her pleas and forced her into it against her will.

He
is also charged with raping her another four times during their two-year
marriage."

Needless
to say, it has sparked some interesting debate. Those who are siding with the
woman are generally saying that a woman has a right to deny sex even to her
husband
. If he encroaches on that right, then it
is rape. Others are suggesting that to deny the man sex on his wedding night is
cruel; why’d she marry the guy anyway? Another thing that I noticed that struck me as
interesting is that those who sided with the woman tended to be women and,
likewise, men were siding with the man.

What’s
your take? Who is in the wrong?

    Although Married ..
The Partners should HONOR Each other ..
in this unit called family ..
BOTH should decide they want to share intimacy ..
When ONE chooses to not share this ..
    HONOR that .. don't force ..

His actions .. by 'taking' .. After she said clearly NO
Is .. by its nature .. RAPE ..

Especially on the night of the marriage, we're fair game. Or should be.

Rape is rape, no matter when, where, what, how, and why.

Though she may be doing this to get his money and divorce him early.

No STILL means no - even within a marriage. The definition of 'rape' is (to the best of my knowledge) not influenced by the marital status of those involved.

I can understand, he wanted to 'get it in' on their wedding night, but she didn't want to, so he shouldn't have forced her. No matter who it is, NO MEANS NO.

They both are wrong because apparently they don't care anything about each other. I think that a man would expect sex on his wedding night but to force her was completely wrong. On the other hand I think to deny someone something that they apparently cared so much about is almost as hateful. Only in an extreme circumstance would I ever deny sex to my husband. I'm a woman but I see women use sex to manipulate men and in a loving relationship I find that reprehensible. I still don't consider it rape.

I know a couple that got married and the wife denied her husband sex...PERIOD! They stayed together for three years before he finally divorced her.

You fall under my original post on this thread. Do read it.They are both wrong because they don't care about each other??? SHE WAS DRUNK! It's hateful for a drunk woman to deny her husband a drunk screwing? "They apparently cared so much about?" Where did that gem come from? Only in an extreme circumstance would you deny sex to your hubby? Please tell all of SH what the circumstance is. I suppose you feel you are doing conservatives proud by this post????

LOL, whoa buddy! I'm sorry I can't comprehend why someone would make all those promises of all this eternal love and compassion a few hours before and then take him to court for rape. The phony part of this whole sad story is that he supposedly raped her four times and she stayed married for two years? If she considered it rape the first time she should have left him.

This entire story is simply BS and all the outrage is ridiculous. If she really considered her husband forcing sex on her when she said no and she stayed with him and let it happen no less than 4 times more, who's the freaking idiot here? I said they were both and fault and I'm sticking with it.

Also, this is a one-sided story and you have accepted it as truth. I don't speak for other conservatives but I suppose you are proud for buying this story?

This is a difficult call to make. If the court sides with the woman, wouldn't it open the door for any married woman that's pissed at her husband to cry rape?

Sounds like they deserve each other. Why did they even get married????

If the man had raped her previously, WHY would she marry a rapist? I blame her for being TOO STUPID to avoid a bad situation.

I blame the man for not being able to take NO for an answer.

I didn't have sex with my husband on the wedding night.

    We were both too tired.

To suggest that she had to have sex when she didn't want to was cruel, is a horrible mindset to have. She said no, he forced her. That is rape, no matter who you are. Also, she didn't need to give a reason, but she did. She is the victim here, not him.

Alright, I just don't buy this whole story. If she considered it rape on her wedding night why would she let it happen four more times and stay with him for two years. I think there is more to this story than the one-sided version given here. Or else, she's a freaking idiot!

First of all, you don't let rape happen.

Secondly, why does any woman in an abusive relationship stick around to be abused? You get used to it, and you don't think you deserve any better until you either grow a pair and leave, or you just continue to take it. Now, it is not saying that she never had sex with him. Maybe it was the only 4 times that she said no, and he never wanted to hear that word.
