Have you ever gone on vacation and forgotten your bathing suit? Or do you just hate swimsuit shopping? Thanks to 3D printing technology, it's possible to never go through the often-painful bikini shopping process again.

Meet the N12. It's made out of nylon and is the first "ready-to-wear, completely 3D printed article of clothing." No sewing is required. The N12 is waterproof and the nylon it's made out of is described as "white, strong and flexible." 3D printing advocates claim that bikinis are just the beginning; they are able to make a 3D printed dress (zipper included) and at some point all clothing will be able to be made this way. What do you think? Is printable clothing the future of fashion? Or would you prefer to go shopping the old-fashioned way?

DAILYMAIL.CO.UK reports:
The N12 bikini is the world's first first ready-to-wear, completely 3D-printed article of clothing. N12 represents the beginning of what is possible for the near future.

Actually... Unless you are going to die in the next few months, probably not!

Many malls already have the scanners:

I stopped at a Mercantile in a small town once... Most of the stuff was "One Size Fits All".. or you S/M/L/XL/XXL and XXXL. :)

lol-well we are a little better than that but most clothing stores here are independents and the chain stores are sort of lower end things. There are two small malls, the type that are anchored by a grocery store and don't even have enough space to accommodate a food court.

More and more things are being made by robots and 3D printers.

My choir director needed a dental crown. His dentist took a mold, did the crown prep work and took a second impression mold. He took the two molds to a 3D scanning device and in about 15 minutes the 3D printer popped out a porcelin crown. Another 5 minutes to fit it and glue it and done. Total time was about 90 minutes and all in a single visit.

Printing out clothing will be just a quick and will be more common in the future. Fashions will change as they always (too often) do but the way clothes are made will change dramatically.

You would probably be shocked at how much food is already "printed". Most of you snack chips are some sort of mash-up of potato or corn that is "inked" with various flavors, oozed out into a chip shape and then fried or baked.

Granola bars, cookies, candy, hot dogs, hamburger patties, are all made from batches and then formed by machines that "print" multiple copies.
