I think I know the right answer. But what would you do?

As a season ticket holder to USC Trojan football, I've only attended 1 game this year. I missed 3 home games so far. USC plays its last game of the year at home against arch nemesis UCLA Bruins. It could make the difference in redeeming a disappointing season.

I've missed a few of my young son's AYSO soccer games due to unavoidable circumstances. I really enjoy watching him play his 20-30 minutes of semi-organized competition.

He plays his last game at the same time and makes it impossible to attend both games -- or even partial of both.

One of the things I remember from my childhood is my dad coming to my AYSO soccer games. I think you should go.

I ended up giving the ticket away, going to the AYSO game, and watching the recorded football game later with the family. Good choice!

Go to your sons game and watch or listen to the football game. You can multi-task can't you? Besides that you are not the only dad in that situation so someone will keep track of the score anyway!

I did go to my son's game. he had his best game ever with a couple of goals and 3 assists. USC beat UCLA in a slow game that I watched on DVR later... all ended very well.

I've got a whole day planned with the family for the AYSO game and then watch USC stomp on UCLA on DVR (sans commercials and sportscaster banter during half-time).

My son better appreciate it later in life!
    Fight On!

All I can say is OUCH, but then again you win either way. PC will forgive you. As a kid, every year I would ask my parents if I could play soccer and every year they would come up with a great excuse why not. Years later I realized its so my dad could go to the SC football games. He’d take me of course. I’m actually glad he did.

I answer this way only because of the very young age of the child. In a year or two the answer would be the opposite. At the very earliest years of AYSO they don't keep score and the kids more or less wander around the field... They are not really into it yet....

'SC does have a chance of losing, and that would really suck to go and watch a loss. My son's team never loses ;)

I could see a bit of a problem if you attended all of the games but you have only been to one home game. Maybe, just maybe, you should give up your season tickets and spend the money you save by taking your son out to a restaurant after you attend his soccer games. Blood is thicker than water!!!
You said it,"kids grow up quickly".

I don't think I could spend $100s on a dinner with my son, unless we order some fine wines.

Maybe I'll sell the ticket and make up the entire season's cost. StubHub!

Son is first. With today's technology you should be able to attend your boy's soccer game and also enjoy the UCLA vs USC football game. The hardest part of my plan when things like this occur is - keeping by sport buddies from telling me the score of the game. Be firm with them and positively tell them NO SPORTS' TALKING - especially the game in mind.

I forgot about that. I can't TiVo and keeping the locals quiet at the soccer game with such a big rivalry on the line.

These events are priceless. Forget SC for this year...season is gone. There's always next year. Besides, you have a truly vested interest on this event. :-)

The USC game will be there next year. Your childrens special moments flash by much too fast to miss them. They don't forget that you weren't there when you don't make it. Let us know how your sons game was cause I know you'll be sitting on the sidelines watching him.

My daughter bought our Maltese Toby his first USC jersey yesterday. He's going trick or treating with the family as a football playing dog.
