After what seemed like a never-ending pregnancy fashion show, Beyonce gave birth to a baby girl on Saturday. But wait, there's even bigger news: the baby's name is Blue Ivy Carter.

beyonce

"Welcome to the world, Blue," Beyonce and hubby Jay-Z's good friend Gwyneth Paltrow tweeted on Sunday. "We love you already." The actress also responded to a "confused" fan who asked if the little girl's name is "Ivy Blue or Blue Ivy," clarifying, "It's Blue Ivy!"

Another famous friend, Rihanna, tweeted on Saturday, "Welcome to the world princess Carter! Love Aunty Rih." And Auntie Solange tweeted on Sunday that Blue Ivy is "the most beautiful girl in the world."

According to "Good Morning America," the superstar couple chose "Ivy" because of the meaning of the number "4" or "IV" -- Beyonce and Jay-Z were born on Sept. 4 and Dec. 4, respectively; they were married on April 4, 2008; and Beyonce's latest album is called "4." They also reportedly have matching "IV" tattoos on their wedding fingers.

Meanwhile, Jay-Z has three albums with the word "blue" in their titles: "The Blueprint" was released in 2001; "The Blueprint 2: The Gift & The Curse" was released in 2002; and "The Blueprint 3" came out in 2009.

Beyonce and Jay-Z reportedly rented out the fourth floor of New York City's Lenox Hill hospital for $1.3 million (small change for these two). Wondering how B and baby are doing? The Houston Chronicle reported that "baby and mom are doing just fine." GMA reports that the 30-year-old singer gave birth via C-section. So what do you think of the name?

I've lost all respect I had for this woman after I read this...

"A man was allegedly stopped from visiting his premature babies by Beyonce and Jay-Z's bodyguards in Lenox Hill Hospital, New York, this weekend.

Beyonce had reportedly hired out and redecorated a wing at the hospital at the cost of $1.3 million (£843,000) in order to give birth to her first born child, Blue Ivy Carter, in peace, but her allegedly heavy-handed security guards apparently repeatedly stopped Neil Coulon from visiting his newborns in the neonatal intensive care unit.

NY Daily reports that Coulon's relatives were also thrown out of a waiting room by Beyonce's private security staff.

Coulon, whose wife delivered premature twins in the hospital last week, said of the security guards: "Three times they stopped me from entering or exiting the NICU (Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit) and it happened once on Friday — just because they wanted to use the hallway... They should have been more strategic about it. These are children with problems in intensive care and you're just going to take over the hospital like you own it? All I want is an apology."

They have to stated the spelling of the babies first name. It is either Blu or Blue and the middle name is Iv not Ivy. Beyonce is a number freak and the number 4 has a lot of meaning to her.

In Chinese the number 4 means death, I lived in China for ten years and still associate 4 with death. Oh well.

It has to do with hers and Jay Z birthday being on the 4th, 4 original member of Destiny Child, and a few other special days falling on the 4th.

Why rich and famous people give their kids stupid names, I will never understand. Ivy Blue would have been cute, but Blue Ivy sounds like something material.

In my opinion, it's a word that's commonly or traditionally used to identify something. when it comes to names for humans, picking plants, activities, emtions, sentiments, theories etc. that's become popular for some reason isn't real name.
Dave is a name. Serendipity is not. Thanks to socialisation, immersion into a community what is and isn't a name for a person is just natural to me. can you tell which of the following is a real name for a person?
    1) Emily.
    2) Oak Tree.
    3) Neutrino.
