Beyonce Got an Eyebrow Wax, Manicure and Pedicure to Give Birth: Sweet or Silly?

When you think of a woman giving birth, you usually think of an exhausted, pale woman struggling (in pain) to get to the hospital. But not Beyonce. The newly crowned World's Most Beautiful Woman was totally ... beautified when she arrived at the hospital in January to give birth to baby Blue.

"I did have a fresh eyebrow wax," she tells People. "I got my nails done, I got my feet done, had my hair done, and I had my little lip gloss." But her efforts didn't quite pay off. "I didn't feel that I looked beautiful during birth, but who does? After being pumped with all those fluids and gaining so much weight ... I barely recognized myself," she says. "But after many hours of labor, I could care less about anything but my child. I didn't care how I looked."

In fact, she actually felt amazing. "I felt more powerful than I've ever felt in my life," she says. "I felt connected to my body. I felt like I knew my purpose in the world." The singer says she gained 50 pounds during her pregnancy, but she's already lost most of the weight due to breastfeeding and a strict diet and exercise routine. Do you think it's sweet that she primped herself for Blue's birth -- or is it kind of ridiculous?

Because she's a celebrity, she's going to be criticized no matter WHAT she does. If she had looked worn out and tired, people would complain about how terrible she looked even though most women don't exactly look their best after labor. Seeing that she looks beautiful after child birth, people are naturally going to say it was silly for her to get all "made up." It's a double edged sword. She probably knows she's going to be criticized no matter WHAT she does, so if I were a celebrity, I'd rather be nagged on for taking "silly measures" to "look good" for childbirth then for being talked about how "bad" I looked whether it's normal to look exhausted or not.

I don't sweet is the word, but it's not silly. I mean, she's beyonce! And we don't know the reason she got it. Maybe because those things are theroputic and relaxing to her when she's stressed!

Let's be real, it's not exactly a time when women are gonna look their best. If I was anticipating that much ugliness, I'd put a little effort in for the occasion as well. Especially if it's one of those births that people film :/

Well I got my hands and legs shaved on the day I was giving birth. Was in the hospital within an hour of completing it. Now its her personal beauty that is needed as she needs to feel good during the time as insecurities are at its peak. I know I felt I wouldnot have time after the baby was born and got it all done. It was a blessing in disguise too as I didnot pay attention to my inadequacies (which were taken care of) and concentrated on giving birth and getting my baby safely into the world.

I don't think it's really for looking good in the pictures.
She's all excited for her birth and she can't wait to have her first child- of course she treats herself. It's cute ;)

Nothing the matter with wanting to look nice after giving or while giving birth. Thats her choice and she has the money for it.So why not do it.

She was about to welcome the newest addition to her family into the world. It's nice that she got dressed up for such a joyous event. Meanwhile, I'll probably be the woman who enters the hospital with only one shoe on and hair half brushed screaming "where's my damn epidural?!?!?".

When I was in labor with my first, I had my sister paint my toes before I went to the hospital. There's nothing wrong with trying to make yourself feel a little pretty before going to give birth. When you're bloated, spread eagle, red faced, trying to push out a baby, you're not at you're sexiest. And after when you're sitting on a puppy pad and they're pushing on your flabby stomach and leaking strange fluids, and people keep taking pictures of you, at least you got your eyebrows done.

She gave attention to herself before she could give it to her baby. Lets wait and see how long she will remember to apply again before she enters her nursery because failure to do so, she will shock her toddler!!!!!!!!!

if you can afford to look sexy before giving birth, go for it. I really don't think that she could do all that during labor though. it was probably just routine

First of all none of us know her personally so no one can say why she was wanting it done. Second of all it's her body her life she can do as she wishes. There was no harm either way as far as chemicals are concerned. Smoking would be way more harmful. Also why are we so obsessed with telling others how to live their lives, we can't do a good job in our lives as it is. My thoughts are to each their own. Move on and leave all the celeberties alone. How would you like people constanstly watching your every move and criticising every decision you make. We live in a free country. If you want to choose what other people do then MOVE!

It would be silly for the average mom giving birth but if you consider that she had cameras in her face from start to finish taking pictures that would go in magazines and on websites for the world to see I'd say it's to be expected of her.

I'm kinda in the middle on this one. It's great that she wants to look beautiful for maybe a birth pic that the hubsand takes but its kinda stupid as well because it won't matter, you'll not look your best anyways from giving birth.

That's old school. My mom made me set my hair with rollers so I would feel pretty in the delivery room. I never gave my hair a single thought while I was in labor.
