It's because of Joe McCarthy and the blacklisting that changed Hollywood's politics. Many of the writers and producers, etc. lost their careers or writers had to write under assumed names to get work. It changed their political views.

To not like her anymore because of a personal opinion that never hurt anyone is just shallow, judgmental, and just not very intelligent. I do not agree with a lot of peoples beliefs about politics but I am not going lower myself down to have that type of attitude. Having that attitude is the exact same thing as begrudging someone because they do not believe and practice the same religion as you do. Betty White is a great actress and as funny as hell.
