I think the way to stop violence begins in childhood. Treat your children well, do not be violent with them, discourage aggressive behaviors and live a non violent life. Teach them creative ways to settle conflicts and to consider the feelings of the people around them. Teach them they have rights and other people do too. Teach them tolerance.

Apparently its give everyone weapons, from teeny tiny hand guns to large bombs. That's why I am happy for Iran to have nuclear weapons. If the gun lobby's logic is sound, then the more bombs around the world, the safer we will all be. (btw being sarcastic)
