Looking for an excuse to have a cold one tonight? Beer makes men smarter, according to researchers at the University of Illinois in Chicago, The New York Daily News reports. Unfortunately, there's no word yet on what having a brewski or two does for the ladies ...

The researchers had 40 men play a word game. Half the players were given two pints; the other half had nothing to drink. Turns out, the drinkers solved 40 percent more of the problems than the sober players and they finished the problems in 12 seconds (the non-drinkers took 15.5 seconds).

"We found at 0.07 blood alcohol, people were worse at working memory tasks, but they were better at creative problem-solving tasks," psychologist Jennifer Wiley reported on the Federation of Associations in Behavioral and Brain Sciences (FABBS) site. "Innovation may happen when people are not so focused. Sometimes it’s good to be distracted." Do you buy it that beer makes you brilliant? Or is this totally bogus?

I didn't say anything about their personalities.Just that it can skew perceptions.Good and bad come in all sized packages.It comes down to the person.BTW I don't drink beer...lol

ya know.... some people want to consume more than that.....its up to the individual....this is not Nazi germany! McDonalds hamburgers some say are unhealthy also....do you want to regulate that? i see more people in line at mcdonalds than i do at the beer store by the way in a given hour. I'm not saying you're not allowed to drink, once the law says you can drink then it's up to you. It's just nice to know what amounts could be healthy, you know, for the people who choose to find that important.

Wow, two windows? 0.0 I've never seen one here, luckily. That's crazy. That horse transportation is a cool idea though xD She should just watch out that they won't make it a burger.

There was a study recently on a limited quantity of beer had the same effect. However, the operative word is "limited".

yeah i think youre right...plenty of protein in beer, (SODAHEAD.COM) and also certain amounts of alcohol in the body have been said and proven by doctors (and attested to by individuals) to contain health benefits and wellness....of course, not for everyone....as the protectionists will point out.

i wonder how many beer drinkers there are worldwide....it would make a great study! (even Obama does, and he is like one of the hippest presidents we have had! (i think santorum is pushing for the next shot at it in earnesty!)
