Looking for an excuse to have a cold one tonight? Beer makes men smarter, according to researchers at the University of Illinois in Chicago, The New York Daily News reports. Unfortunately, there's no word yet on what having a brewski or two does for the ladies ...

The researchers had 40 men play a word game. Half the players were given two pints; the other half had nothing to drink. Turns out, the drinkers solved 40 percent more of the problems than the sober players and they finished the problems in 12 seconds (the non-drinkers took 15.5 seconds).
"We found at 0.07 blood alcohol, people were worse at working memory tasks, but they were better at creative problem-solving tasks," psychologist Jennifer Wiley reported on the Federation of Associations in Behavioral and Brain Sciences (FABBS) site. "Innovation may happen when people are not so focused. Sometimes it’s good to be distracted." Do you buy it that beer makes you brilliant? Or is this totally bogus?

A herd of buffalo can move only as fast as the slowest buffalo.
When the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells.
Excessive intake of alcohol, we all know, kills brain cells, but naturally it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That`s why you always feel smarter after a few beers. And... Now you know the REST of the story...
Actually the dudes with beer tried. The dudes without the beer were pissed they didn't get any beer and said F it. All one needs is logic not a damn study.
A guy gets killed while trying to "surf" on top of a speeding subway car.
Was he sober or under the influence at the time?
Was he smart or stupid?
But he sure was creative and fun.
Don
1. Did they take in the IQ of each drinker beforehand, and each non-drinker?
2. How do you know that they don't behave smarter when drinking apple juice?
3. What ages were the participants and genders?
4. Was there any control test used?
5. If alcohol is proven to make reflexes slower, and affect reasoning and judgement: how are they becoming smarter in spike of this?
6. etc...
Take care,
There should at least be controlled tests: sparkling juice and such: even I am aware of that, lol.
I think the more specific and concise research is, the more precise and conclusive the outcome. The boarder the study is, the more variables will not be accounted for, and taint the results.
Take care,
