Barbie and Ken Back Together! Cute or Kooky?

Looks like Valentine's Day worked its magic on Ken and Barbie. They got back together on Monday after a seven-year split.

Whew! If plastic dolls can make a long-term relationship work, then so can we!

On Sunday, Barbie updated her Facebook page with this status update: "Who knows … maybe I'll have a Valentine this year."

On Monday morning, she changed her status to "In a Relationship." (Yes, it's a little creepy how much Barbie's life resembles our own.)

So what made them realize they belonged together after all?

"They were reunited as costars, as you know, on the set of 'Toy Story 3,'" Lisa McKnight, vice president of marketing at Mattel, told EW. “As we like to put it, they found they were kind of missing each other. ...I think they both realized that they’re made for each other."

But what led them to split to begin with after more than four years of blissful, unconsummated love?

"They have been together for about 43 years, so you know, I think everyone needs a break," McKinght told EW. “So they took a little break and had fun out on their own and were certainly out and about, but I think ultimately, again, they were destined for each other.”

A Mattel poll found that fans wanted Barbie and Ken to ride off in their pink convertible together. Count us in that group, too, though we're really asking ourselves why we care.
