According to ABC News, it seems that plastic surgery and breast implants are taking precedence over books and notepads. Some college-age women, according to ABC News, have confidence issues with their physical appearance. Whether it's breast implants or a breast reduction, more women are altering their anatomy during their university years for a multitude of reasons.

GMA.YAHOO.COM reports:
Among the latest must-have accessories for students across the country heading back to college is one that might surprise you. It’s not books or bedding. It’s breast or, namely, plastic surgery to achieve a different look.

Seriously?
Are they THAT uncomfortable with themselves as they are?
Do they not have CONFIDENCE in their ability to face the day with the skills, the talent for their chosen profession/art?

Just be yourself. Be real, and you'll eventually find other people who are about real things too and not shallow crap like this. Oh yeah, and don't listen to the guy who made the comment about pillow fights and you tube vids. Pillow fights are stupid, and "sexy" videos tend to come back to bite people on the ass later.

I'm in highschool and I would love to get a nose job for back to school, lol, but would I? no. Plastic Surgery espeically on your breasts for them to bigger is not a back to school kind of thing, I dont understand how that made the must have list for college. Shallow world we live in now I guess, what happened to school being about education? I go to school and people are acting like its a fashion show..

Some people who get plastic surgery have careers or go on to get them. We're not all airheads. I have had a procedure and have no desire to get married within the next five years. I don't yet have a career, but I am looking for one.

back in the 1970's I wanted plastic surgery on my nose. I thought about the money $3000.00.. My cfhilden (if I had any) would inherit THE OLD NOSE NOT THE NEW ONE !! I never went through with it !! In those days there was a lot of pain & disfigurement for about 6 weeks aqverage !! I am a COWARD when it comes to a lot o0f pain !!

It's neither lovely nor lame. Our culture is unfortunately very shallow, and many women feel the the need to make a physical improvement through surgery. As long as their expectations are within reason, then I see nothing wrong with it. I've had one plastic surgery procedure, and it made me feel much better. I doubt I will ever do another. It was for me, not for the world to admire. If plastic surgery is getting to the point where someone is just overtaken by vanity, then it's probably lame.

Sad. Putting aside the few situations where plastic surgery has reasons and purposes other than vanity, it is just sad that young women would consider this important and something that would boost their self esteem or make them look their best.

I can't blame them entirely though. We live in a culture where women are admired and criticized for their appearance no matter how intelligent or talented they are and most of the role models we see have had surgery and are photoshopped. We are then told they are natural beauties.

I find it more sad than lame. College is expensive enough- why pursue unneeded surgical adjustments? It will not make you smarter and nor will it make you love yourself more.

Feeling better about your outward appearance can work wonders on your outlook on everything. It won't change who you are, but it can help things.
