Yet another example of government attempting to dictate how people live their lives. Government has thrown out the principle of personal responsibility by placing blame on things. Cigarettes do not kill people, misusing them does. Twenty ounce sodas do not make people any fatter than twenty ounce lattes but misusing them does. Government has also maligned the fast food industry which is a useful, lawful enterprise because some people over indulge and become obese, that is the responsibility of people who eat too much not the responsibility of fast food. Lastly, we hear "Guns kill people!" Guns do not kill people, people kill people. Left to themselves all guns can do is slowly rust away.
What we need is for government to get the hell out of our lives and leave us alone!

Starting this December, branding and logos from cigarette companies cannot be displayed anywhere on cigarette packages in Australia. According to CBS News, "the packs will instead come in a uniformly drab shade of olive and feature graphic health warnings and images of cancer-riddled mouths, blinded eyeballs and sickly children." The government hopes the new packs will make smoking as unglamorous as possible.

It’s not just Australia but the US, UK, Canada and other countries are such hypocrites about the entire issue. Are cigarettes lethal? Then ban them or just quite playing these ridiculous games.
Grace to you, Glory to God!
this is the only instance that i agree with vice taxes.
We already have a general service tax on non essentials.
Thats the price you pay for choosing to do something that can bring an early death, I am a smoker, I pay the tax every time I buy a packet and I have no problem with it.
As of today our Social Security program will pay out more than it takes in by 2015. In other words, it's bankrupt.
I wonder what pictures we should make politicians put on their letterheads and websites?
OK LET ME EXPLAIN PLEASE
1. I have Never Ever Smoked Period!
2. I know the harmful effects of Smoking
3. There is a Warning Label on the Pack
4. People are responsible for their Own Actions
That being said...... If they die... Who's fault was it? The Company? NO! They warned the people who smoke.
Don't even begin to tell me that at least one time or another that you who smoke have not seen Video's in School about the Dangers of Smoking.
THAT BEING SAID...... IF YOU STILL SMOKE..... WHO'S THE IDIOT?
************ THE GOVERNMENT? OR YOU? ****************
IN ADVANCE THANK YOU BUT IT'S CALLED COMMON SENSE
The fact smokers your not only endangering yourself you endanger everyone you come in contact with while your smoking.. one thing is to poison yourself another is to poison the person next to you..
Your foolish enough to believe your cool to start smoking well we wanna make sure that children don't make the same stupid mistake like you did.
Why do humans live so close together even tho most of us will never speak to one another even passing by on the street? Because we seek the companionship of other we deep down care about each other. When a stranger tell you about your smoking its not to be self righteous its because that person like many others finds value in your life in your presents.
if you just shed the cloud that has blinded you to this you would understand that.
when we see someone doing something harmful to them self its built into us to wanna stop them its just like if you came by a child on a ledge even tho you are a stranger you seek to help them of course smoking is on a smaller scale but still is the same
I went away from non-smokers, but that doesn't mean the non-smokers aren't still inhaling everything else in the air; car exhaust, smoke from factories, etc. Who do you think is putting more crap in the air; smokers or drivers?
