I can't actually remember ever believing in God. Even as a small child. I never made a conscious choice to not believe in God. I never did to begin with.
I'd like to add something if you don't mind. I read through this thread and I must say how refreshing it is to read your replies to the people who have answered your question. You seem genuinely interested in the answers and sharing ideas rather than telling people how wrong they are or berating them with dogma. It was nice to read your replies sonofason. :-)
Abortion, my one friend got knocked up by accident at the time and she told me she was getting an abortion and asked for my support because I'm a good friend. After that I knew I could never go back to the church. Combine this to my love of science already putting pressure on my relationship with the church I decided I had to make a choice and I picked my love of science and I never regretted it.
High School and College, somewhere in there. Between the horrible things I was seeing from self-proclaimed christians with no response or rebuke from either the church or God and the general crappiness of the world and my life at the time I just stopped caring.
You can not prove the existence of God, There for you can only judge the faith by what the followers do. Now even if your God were To exist there would have to be a good reason to follow him. You seem like a good guy so I'm not going to insult your religion by getting in to all the reasons not to follow in the bible. For me there are many.
When I read the entire bible and started to compare passages and looked at the real meaning of them. There is an enormous amount of slaughter and genocide in the bible. I simply cannot believe that any god who is loving would command such acts.
Why would a complete innocent newborn infant deserve to die? You are speaking nonsense yet again. Newborns also have no concept of death either and also have no concept of god and no faith or belief in gods either.
Your god slaughtered people simply on the basis of them having a different religion. That is NOT a sin.
That is proof of the evil and malicious intent of your god.
We do not deserve to die. Our biological clocks run out. That is a scientific fact. All living creatures have a biological clock.
Infants are innocents and do not deserve to be punished by your god for being evil. That is the fallacy of your religion and the meniacal behavior you are willing to accept from your god.
I read extremely well and have an accomplished vocabulary. What I do not do is play rhetoric games with religion.
You are using the WRONG term You are illiterate and the proof of why you are unable to use the word correctly.
deserve:
1. to merit, qualify for, or have a claim to (reward, punishment, aid, etc.) because of actions, qualities, or circumstances http://www.definitions.net/de...
Never had any. I always knew it was a bunch of fairy tales whenever my parents would take me to church or I'd hear others talk about it. Even as a child I thought it was crazy that so many people, especially adults, believe that crap.
We are all born Atheists,, most are then indoctrinated with religious BS for the rest of their lives,, and dont know how to cope with lifes realities without an imaginary friend to hold them up...

Deserve is used in many ways, but it always carries a sense of balance or justice
