On our site, we definitely see lots of beautiful parties for babies and toddlers, however, we still see amazingly creative parties for teens. The main difference is the guests are all kids, and the themes are driven by what the birthday boy or girl wants. For example, take a look at these fantastic teen birthdays on our site and see how fun but mature they feel..

We stopped having the huge parties at about age 10, when we invited a handful of friends and celebrated along with family members. I think today it's different in that there are venues that are marketed specifically toward birthday parties, so it seems to me that a lot of parents compete to see who can throw the largest and best party.

Where's the choice .. NEVER throw a big bash for a child?

(seriously .. who can afford it?)
I raised my children as a SINGLE Parent .. only responsible one too.
For their Birthdays .. a bit of play time with their friends, some home-made treats/cakes .. and pot-luck was what made the birthday special ..
(it really was NOT About spending or lots of gifts .. it was about GOOD Friends sharing a bit of fun).

5th grade, but then when you reach 8th and on from there, everyone throws huge parties where people smoke pot and get laid. Not joking, I'm in 10th. I've seen it happen.

If i can afford it, i fund my own blow out. i like to cook, so cooking my own birthday party and inviting people for me is awesome! Perfect present for these? offer to sponsor a dish, even better? help clean up ;)

Age 12 is about the time my children lost interest in having big parties. We have always celebrated their birthdays with the family, and do to this day. They are now in their 30s, and we are enjoying big birthday parties for their children. We have even traditionally gotten together to have extended family birthday parties with my parents, siblings, etc. whose birthdays fall close together. We would throw one big party to celebrate everyone's birthday, but limit it to family members.

In all reality I think I would stop before middle school.,I personally never wanted big parties, but if they wanted one, why not? Means they're being social, which is alot more than I can say I was!

My wife and i have birthdays that are just two days apart. So we always have a themed party like, 20's flappers and speakeasys or costume parties...everyone always has a great time...

I think everyone should have birthday party's because your birthday is a celebration of you life. Just because you're not brand new in this world doesn't mean that people shouldn't get together to honor your life.

I always had a birthday party. I was one of the only ones in my year to have a birthday disco when I was a kid and everyone really enjoyed them because we never had any school discos. I really enjoy birthday parties now, I think I always will.

As a yearly event, I think your 16th is it. After that maybe a half dozen in the rest of your life.

I think the best birthday party my dad ever had was when he turned 30. My great-grandmother had a blast at her 90th, and my roommate and I had a huge Vegas themed party to celebrate her 26th. It was great! I'm not in favor of a huge party every year, but there's no age limit on big birthday parties. It's not just a birthday sometimes, it's just a gathering of friends to celebrate life!

Where's the "birth" option? My kids are gonna be working and making me money, they won't have time for this "party" thing you speak of.

My darling almost daughter recently turned...um...29. Again. We threw her a fairy themed pool party with tons of good music, food, we even made her a wine fountain! The decor was easy, we just hung plants, flowers, and silk butterflies on anything that stood still.
