According to a survey done in 2009, 76% said they thought religion was losing its influence on American life. 18% thought religion was increasing its influence. 2% thought the influence was staying the same and 3% had no opinion.

I'd also be interested in hearing from different religious groups - Christianity, Judaism, Scientology, Pagans, Jehovah's Witness, Muslims, etc. - to see if they have noticed an increase or decrease in membership.

I think religion is losing its' influence.

I don't think religion is as important in the culture as it used to be. I think that people are questioning the religious doctrines. This may be due to the internet.

think people are turning away from beliefs/faith, due to science and man made influences, when we should remember the faith, and god whom created the heavens and the earth..he is the alpha and omega, the begninning and the end...thats my personal opinion.

I think it's losing it's influence, but the religious right seem to be increasingly vocal.

I think its losing its influence because as our civilization develops, we are finding that we can rely on science and observation instead of simplistic beleifs.
