No I was fortunate to have a great relationship with my parents, we had very few disagreements and I always knew they were looking out for my best interest deep down inside, even though I didn't like what they had to say sometimes.

No. I didn't have any serious family problems or abuse or whatever. And I wasn't an attention whore so that rules out the only other reason I'd do that.

Probably around the same age as you and of course running away from Iowa. Very difficult time in my life. So glad it's behind me! Some wounds linger however as I feel very emotional looking back and remembering.

I can so relate to what you said....some wounds do linger....and I feel very emotional looking back and remembering as well. I had a good reason to run away. Even though it didn't solve my problem....very difficult time in my life as well.

Kind of. When ever I felt the need, I would pack up the backpack and trek off into the woods for a few days.

It's a miracle that I didn't, Once things were so bad that I left for a trip a day early. I basically rescued and taken out of town. Those were some very very difficult days.
It left me with a great compassion for children and teens.

You know I might have been a little slow as a teenager, but I've never been crazy, not even as a teenager. I knew what side my bread was buttered on, so the thought of running away from home never crossed my mind. My teenage years was some of the best years of my life.

I am sorry to hear that, however, your enter strength must have been outstanding, because just from communicating with you, you sound like an awesome person, well grounded, good core values and morally upright. Somebody somewhere made a good impression upon you, because you come across simply delightful. I came up in the days, when parents, grandparents and half of the neighbors raised you, so I am quite thankful for my up bringing, as well as for the people that I grew up with, classmates and etc.,

My parents gave me a good foundation of faith. That has been what has gotten me through all the tough times. I am grateful to them for that. My story is complicated....I found out when I was 14 (by accident) that they had adopted me and never told me.
I was devastated by the family secret and felt betrayed and so confused. I asked questions about my birth parents and that caused my parents so much grief....I can understand now why they were scared to tell me about my birth parents....that's a long story....they thought they were protecting me. It's all water under the bridge of course now but it caused a lot of heart ache in my teenage years. My parents were good parents....they were just scared that I wouldn't love them anymore. I have always adored them but at the time in my life... I was very confused and couldn't handle all the lies. They made a mistake. I have forgiven them long ago. I still have my dad and he is so precious to me. They gave me my core values.....
